Upon arriving to the hotel, we started to get worried as there were some ‘select’ characters hanging around on the street, we crossed over and made no eye contact. When we got to the hotel, we quickly got inside and were pleasantly surprised with the building, it is very interesting with plenty of character.
We were welcomed and promptly checked in. The room was basic, but for the £38 we had paid, we were happy enough. The toilet is separate to the shower, bath and sink which was slightly odd (maybe normal in France?!). The bed was comfortable and the TV had various channels for us to watch (only CNN I think in English). Unfortunately our stay was ruined by some locals having a domestic on the street below at maybe 4am. We thus discovered that the double glazing was not very effective!
We opted not to stay for breakfast as thought it was slightly expensive and a couple of euros at a local stall for croissants and coffee was a better option.
Overall the hotel is a nice basic option. It is clean and service is good, but don’t set your expectations too high. As mentioned, the street is on is slightly dodgy, but your so close to the centre of Nimes, it can be overlooked. Nimes is a lovely city with great history and this made an OK base for our short break.
