“Nice basic hotel in great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2011

Upon arriving to the hotel, we started to get worried as there were some ‘select’ characters hanging around on the street, we crossed over and made no eye contact. When we got to the hotel, we quickly got inside and were pleasantly surprised with the building, it is very interesting with plenty of character.

We were welcomed and promptly checked in. The room was basic, but for the £38 we had paid, we were happy enough. The toilet is separate to the shower, bath and sink which was slightly odd (maybe normal in France?!). The bed was comfortable and the TV had various channels for us to watch (only CNN I think in English). Unfortunately our stay was ruined by some locals having a domestic on the street below at maybe 4am. We thus discovered that the double glazing was not very effective!

We opted not to stay for breakfast as thought it was slightly expensive and a couple of euros at a local stall for croissants and coffee was a better option.

Overall the hotel is a nice basic option. It is clean and service is good, but don’t set your expectations too high. As mentioned, the street is on is slightly dodgy, but your so close to the centre of Nimes, it can be overlooked. Nimes is a lovely city with great history and this made an OK base for our short break.

“A Decent Option in the Heart of Nimes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

Some rooms are very compact; historic staircase is overrated; small courtyard; lack of modern amenities; wi-fi took some time to work; some contemporary room designs juxtapose historic outside surroundings; dimly lit side street entrance; good breakfast buffet for price; close to town market; quiet at night...

“Gorgeous, comfortable and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

This little hotel has it all. It is close to all the ancient sites of Nimes and their breakfast is to die for. It is a beautiful hotel, clean and was a wonderful place to stay. If you are looking for adventure and an ancient Roman city, this hotel in its heart is the place for you.

Could be turned into a first rate hotel however as it is tariff is too expensive, breakfast overpriced and reception staff completely disinterested. Also no internet connection.

“Quirky and ideally located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

We were a little unsure of what to expect from this hotel given the mixed reviews on this site, but had a great stay at this little hotel. It is ideally located for all the sites you would want to visit in Nimes. It is down a small, one way, side street but we did not feel unsafe at all. It is a really quirky hotel, set in an old building around a courtyard. We had two rooms a twin (room 110) and a double (room 206) and both were very clean and well equipped. The twin had an extremely high ceiling and wonderful big window. It was a really different hotel.
The breakfast was a little pricey (10 euros per person) so we decided to venture into Nimes for our breakfast, you can get a good deal in many of the bistros/ restaurants in many of the squares or on the ground-floor of the Les Halles shopping centre, just a couple of minutes away from the hotel. Similarly the mini bar prices were a little high, you would be better served buying water/ juices from the local supermarket at the end of the road.
Overall however we found this to be a really lovely hotel for our 3 night stay and would stay again if we ever return to Nimes.
