We stayed in Royal Hotel for a week in August. We found the location very good. Very short walk to the train station and again a very short walk to the city center.The rooms were clean and the one we had was just renovated, we were told. The bathroom indeed looked very new. We enjoyed our stay and would go back there.

I stayed at this hotel for a week over summer before heading to spain! This hotel was tired, dark and (for the price) not very good value. The upsides were that it was centrally located & my room had a large / well fitted out bathroom. Every room is adjacent to a hallway, so most mornings I was woken up by rattling bags & people talking loudly. The bed were rock hard, and the bedheads (50s style...) rattled every time I rolled over. The reception staff were thick and overall not very friendly!

We stayed here on a one-night stopover on our way from Nice to Barcelona, Price was pretty reasonable for Montpellier, but nothing exceptional.

It is close to the train station (about 3 minutes walk up a main road) and then only another minute or two to the main square in Montpellier. The people on reception were perfectly nice.

The room was pleasant enough (a bit old school with some nice floral covers on the bed!), if a little small. The bathroom was bigger with a decent shower.

The aircon was amazing - I actually woke up in the middle of the night shivering as we had put it down so low!),

Not sure about breakfast (I heard the receptionist say that it was continental and, I think, it was 12 euros for adults, and less for children, but not completely sure).

Would probably stay here again, but probably for no longer than a night or two.

I stayed here just one night. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is old fashioned but the location is excellent given I arrived by train. Not a lot else to say.
