We were disappointed by the standard of the room, particularly the bathroom : water ran down to the floor every time we took a shower, which is not adapted for an average-sized man, and the toilet didn't flush. A couple of lightbulbs in the bedroom were out. And we were woken before 08:00 by an employee blowing off leaves just outside our window.
Besides that, staff was very helpful and welcoming (reception, cleaning and breakfast staff), and the hotel being so central is certainly a huge +, specially since it was so quiet outside.

This Mercure is close to the centre of town, but in a most insalubrious location. Our room looked out over the pedestrian route to the centre of town - a dark, barely lit staircase inhabited by vagrants and other suspicious characters. The car park entrance was similarly populated. Montpellier is a very dirty town - litter everywhere and little attempt to clean up the vast pedestrian spaces. Room was very small. We moved on....

I really like having the window that opens up all the way.
Right next door there is a nice mall and past that is the main city center. It is a little walk around the hotel to get there, but not bad.
I had a few drinks at the bar and it was enjoyable. The staff was helpful and nice.

Stayed here for business and was pleasantly surprised. Staff are friendly and helpful (with good english). Great location next to the main square and shopping mall. Breakfast was average but the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Not exactly 5 star but excellent value.
