This Mercure is close to the centre of town, but in a most insalubrious location. Our room looked out over the pedestrian route to the centre of town - a dark, barely lit staircase inhabited by vagrants and other suspicious characters. The car park entrance was similarly populated. Montpellier is a very dirty town - litter everywhere and little attempt to clean up the vast pedestrian spaces. Room was very small. We moved on....

I really like having the window that opens up all the way.
Right next door there is a nice mall and past that is the main city center. It is a little walk around the hotel to get there, but not bad.
I had a few drinks at the bar and it was enjoyable. The staff was helpful and nice.

Stayed here for business and was pleasantly surprised. Staff are friendly and helpful (with good english). Great location next to the main square and shopping mall. Breakfast was average but the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Not exactly 5 star but excellent value.

The price is ok, and the location is convenient. It's clean, service was very good. BUT, there were just a series of annoying little things: the WiFi is free but you have to log in repeatedly with an ultra-long name and password; there is no "Do Not Disturb" sign and so the maid tries to bust in repeatedly after 9 am; there is only one electrical socket (not counting the low current one in the bathroom for the razor, which does not work with most appliances). And the air conditioning was all but undetectable. Not cool, so to speak!
