“A little gem in the heart of Carcassonne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Marlene and her daughter were both charming and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable with African themed memorabelia. Although in heart of the city the room was still spacious. Tea/coffee making facility. Good shower. Breakfast was good. Outsanding value for accommodation in the heart of Carcassonne. My daughter and I were easily able to walk up to the old town from here and equally good access to the Canal du Midi.

“Very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Marlene picked us up from the airport on arrival and dropped us off on departure - its all part of the service they offer their guests. The rooms are themed. We stayed in the Africa room which was very nice, breakfast was great, our hosts were great and the room for two was excellent value for E60.00 per night. The location is on a back street about 200 yards from the canal locks and railway station and the main town square but a good 20 minute walk from the old city. A lovely couple who have extended their family of two girls by adopting a son a from Sri Lanka and a daughter from Senegal! Again - more home made jams for breakfast!

“Nice hosts, nice place, location had pluses and minuses”

As previously mentioned, the hosts at this b&b are top-notch and very friendly. Their new location has big, comfortable rooms with good beds and bathrooms and interesting international theming. Breakfast was above average for France with good breads, homemade jams, fresh fruiit, OJ, coffee/tea and cereal.

Perhaps the only thing that could be improved is the location. While it's convenient for the heart of the new city (which hosts interesting market days a few times a week), it's a bit of a hike to the historic area (I'd guess about 25 minutes). Doable (we did it easily), but a bit time consuming and a bit inconvenient. But the plus side of this is free parking right outside the door of the b&b. So just be aware of the location before you book.

“Fantastic B&B with great hosts and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2011

We have just come back from a night's stay in Carcassone and wanted to add a quick review now as we couldn't have had a better stay and wanted to recommend Maison Sans Frontiere straight away. We are a family with three young boys (under 4) and so travelling anywhere can be a bit of a mission but Michel and Marlene were extremely accommodating and had put out many extras in preparation for our stay without us even asking for them. They had even put out a baby bath and baby towel which we thought was a lovely touch and they also easily accommodated us all in one room. The fact the B&B is family run gives it a lovely personal touch and Michel & Marlene are always on hand to help with anything if needed. We also loved how they have themed the B&B bedrooms to the international side of their family and we stayed in the Senegal room. The location was great for us as it had free parking on the road right outside of the B&B and it was only a 10/15 minute walk into the main area of town and about 20 mins to the castle which is itself absolutely stunning. Breakfast was lovely and has already been mentioned, the homemade jams were delicious. All in a great stay with fantastic hosts and we can't recommend it enough.

“Superb find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2011

Cosy B&B with great hosts. Handy location in new town close to restaurants & places of interest. 15 minute walk to the old city. Lots to see & do in Carcassonne and in the locality. Hire a car at the airport and see Lourdes, Pyrenees, Tolouse, Narbonne, Millau (the famous bridge) & Perpignan as a must. Keep away from the main roads to see the real beauty of this region. All the roads were superb & empty. Parking on the street outside the B&B was never a problem. The hosts speak good english and cant do enough for you (organised to sort our puncture for free whilst we were having a delicious breakfast). Nice rooms with interesting decor, comfortable & kept spotless. Superb find for future trips to this area of France.
