Felt we really needed to comment on this B&B. We always check prospective places out on Trip Advisor before booking, & L'Echappee Belle was no different. In this case we were somewhat startled by the seeming inconsistency in the reviews. After having had the pleasure of a couple of days there, we would heartily add our vote to those reviewers who found the B&B excellent. Our room was great: bed large & comfortable, en-suite spotless & well appointed. We also had the pleasure of having a view out our window which looked across the beautiful walled garden of the B&B across to the impressive sight of the church towers. Breakfasts were more than adequate, both in terms of quality & quantity. In a direct contradiction of one published review, we were informed that breakfast times were flexible, & to ignore the times listed on the information sheet in the room. Indeed, our host Johanna was extremely helpful & friendly, taking time to ensure we had a satisfactory WI-FI connection so that we could keep in touch with family back in Australia. We would highly recommend the establishment & would love the chance to return.

We really enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable B&B. The bedroom was air conditioned which was needed even at the beginning of October. Good choice at breakfast with fresh croissants and we would recommend this B&B.

We stayed at L'Echappee Belle for one night. Johanna, the proprietress, is a very thorough and detail-oriented hostess. She knows Carcassonne in and out, and will give you whatever tools you need to take advantage of la Cite.

We really enjoyed living inside the fortress city - it truly is an out of this world experience. At night, many of the outside tourists leave, and it's just residents and tourists staying inside the fortress walls. The place just comes alive. It's surreal because your eyes aren't used to the sights around you - castle walls, turrets, torches, rock, sweeping views. Incredible.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the hotel is top-notch.

One caveat: taxis aren't allowed inside la Cite, so you have to lug your bags in yourself, all the way to the hotel. Not that big a deal if you are young and ablebodied. But when it's time to leave, and you need to catch a train, make sure you triple-check the taxi reservation so you don't miss your train. Our reservation somehow got lost in the works, and we missed our train to Nice.

We had a very nice stay at L'Echappee Belle. Our room was fine with a nice bathroom. Johanna made us feel welcome and was very informative about Carcassonne. She gave us suggestions on things to do and where to eat. She was also very helpful when my husband and I were having stomach troubles. The breakfast was a good French breakfast which included cereals. We would definitely stay here if we returned to Carcassonne.
