“Lovely apartment, fabulous view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed in a one bedroomed apartment in the Adonis during a very cold winter weekend. After a warm welcome by the lovely lady at reception, we were shown to our toasty warm apartment which became a home from home. The Medieval Town and castle are close by, and the views from the Adonis spectacular. A couple of streets away you wlll find a small supermarket to buy the basics, but there are plenty of places to eat in La Cite. We walked across the bridge to the new/old town on Market Day and bought loads of local fresh produce, bread, cheese, veg, fruit, oil. That was quite an experience and we were able to rustle up a couple of nice meals on the 2 ring cooker and microwave...all you need on such a trip, and a nice addition, You are really getting an lovely clean, bright apartment for the price of a room. One thing I loved is that the venue is right on the edge of the small town, so you also have views right across to the beautiful countryside with small vineyards etc. Just across a very small road is a childrens playground next to a stream, perfect for families. I loved my stay at the Adonis and will certainly be back again..maybe when it's a little warmer!

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a 1 bedroomed apartment - well worth it. The rooms on the castle side on the g...

“Near the medieval city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

The room was nice, clean and had what we needed to prepare small meals ourselves. Morning meals (not included) were nice. We were a few minutes away (by foot) from the medieval city. We actually went all the way from the train station by foot too (but our backpack were kinda heavy so we found it a bit long).

Would probably do there again if we go in Carcassonne again.

Room Tip: Since the hotel is bit large (more than one building), people with difficulty walking should mention...

“a very good place to stay underneath the castle walls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Fortunately we enjoy a good walk this residence is set under the castle walls so close enough to visit to get to the rest of the town you need to have a walk of about 10-15 minutes dependant on route. We narrowed it down after a few days to under the 10 minute mark to the main shopping streets. The rooms are well apportioned and have all the necessities ie shower/ bath a cooking area and heating/air con dependant on season, we went on the 14th November and returned 18th it was in the 60s and very pleasant.
The reception staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, the closing between 12-3 and after 8pm can be a bit of a pain but that said we very rarely return having left after breakfast only for a nights kip and rest the feet. All in all this place was well worth the value.

“Great base, good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Just spent 3 nights at the Adonis and can't fault it. I stay in hotels all year around for work so enjoyed the fact that this is an apartment and maids are not in and out. I did need to contact reception and found them very very helpful. The apartment was very clean on arrival and was told that it wouldn't be served until we left but if we wanted it cleaned we only had to ask. I appreciate that I went out of season but could not hear any road noise mentioned in other reviews, even though my apartment faced the road. Access to the cite is two minutes walk away, although it is quite steep. This accommodation represents great value for money and a great base to explore the surrounding area. Do be aware that if you want to hire a car do it either before you go or at the airport, I found nowhere in town not even the railway station and reception didn't have any car hire details either

Room Tip: Make sure you let them know if you are going to arrive outside of their reception opening times

“Confusing ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

We got there apparently after the place "closes". Once we figured out that we weren't going to be able to check in, I figured out how to get into the building. There was an emergency contact number on the wall. Being from the US, I didn't have a phone so Iwandered around the city in the middle of the night trying to find a phone. When a security guard from a campground stopped me, I was able to use his phone to call that number. They said that there was a code to the door, with a safe inside. There was a key inside the safe. It would have been nice to know that they close early, and that there was another way to get in the building the hard way. The room was very nice and clean and big, compared to other hotels we stayed in. The shower head was not attached to the wall, like some of the other reviews state, not a big deal, but I had to add that ... and there was a shower mat. We were only there for one night, but I did enjoy the stay. The staff was adequately helpful. Great location, close to the castle.
