How convenient to the train, maybe 1000 feet. The building was interesting, obviously from an earlier style of architecture. Don't believe it's only "15 minutes" from the city walls, it's 30+, though pleasant. We had difficulty getting a good nights sleep, as the rooms faced the street & there was traffic all night. If you're traveling by train, it's a good choice. Not plush, just functional.

I stayed with trepidation after reading all the negative reviews. They were mostly vindicated. The rooms are not terrible, merely drab. A US highway motel does better. The reception staff look askance at every question, and very impatiently and sullenly listened to me struggle in my decent but nevertheless troubled French. They were initially ignorant of the fact that bikes and a package awaited me (for the start of a bike tour) and were uninterested in trying to sort out the miscommunication. The 5 euros/hr for wifi access is comically expensive.

Do yourself a favor and get another of the better rated hotels in town.

We stayed here for a one night stopover and are sure happy that we didn't have more time booked at this hotel. Check-in time is 5pm and not a moment earlier and check-out is at 10am, there were approximately 20 people waiting in the lobby for their rooms from about 2pm on. The showerhead in the bathroom had blackmold on it and the bed was very old and soft. They only serve breakfast until 9:30 and when we got down there at 9 there wasn't any juice, coffee or pasteries left only hot chocolate, cereal and yogurt. They also charge 5euro per hour for wifi when the McDonald's and the restaurant next door have it for free! It's unfortunate because it is a beautiful building in a great location.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel (half board... and quite luckily we made a reservation with some strong discount, otherwise it would have been really disappointing!) and it was certainly not the best stay of our life.

Good point was the staff: quite friendly and helpful.

Bad points: it could be a nice hotel, but there are several things that are not good at all, especially since they claim it went through a major refurbishment in 2005! First of all, it's dirty... we went to the swimming pool and it was terrible to see the dirty water... I guess they last cleaned it in 2005... The rooms, the restaurant, the elevator... everything is not really proper.

It seems they are focusing in special offers for big groups of retired people (in 2 days we've seen 2 buses of Spanish and French elderly person) hence they probably do not care that much about the overall service...

All in all not recommended unless you find a good bargain (let's say less than Euro 100 per room) this might be a good choice... If you book the room only, do not stay for breakfast: they charge you 13 euros for nothing special...
