The hotel is located within the walls of this medieval city. The room had doors opening onto a small terrace overlooking Carcassonne that was surrounded by gardens and walls. The whole city was amazing and filled with small bistros and restaurants. We traveled in January so the weather was very windy and some rainy days but that didn't stop us from seeing all the sights.

Me, my wife and my parents, we stayed @ Hotel de la Cite during a car trip across Spain, France and Andorra. We stayed here during oct/11 in a large room, with balcony with direct access to the garden and a nice large bathroom with separate shower and bath. We tried the restaurant and we had a pleasant dinner trying one of the tasting menus. The only point was that the bed was very tired asking for a new and modern mattress. The breakfast room is at a different room outside the hotel, at another hotel building, but is really close, like 20 steps from the hotel door, but in a rainy weather this is a problem. The location is the winner of this hotel. it s situated inside the Carcassone walls and makes much more easy to walk inside the fortress anytime you want because the hotel is just a few steps. If you stay outside, you have to go by car, pay to park the car outside and then you are good to go inside.

We will never forget Carcassone and the Hotel de la Cité!!! We went on the winter time, by car. The hotel is located inside the walls of the old medieval city - wonderful! It´s like if you are inside of a castle! The car stayed outside the walls (the parking area is free for the hotel´s guests). The hotel is an old Chateau, beside the 12th century cathedral. We stayed in the second flor, room 201, located at the end of the corridor, on the left side. From the room´s windows we could see the cathedral, the patio in front of the hotel and the old medieval constructions around. The room was very cozy, with super king bed (2,0 x 2,0 m) and a sofa bed. There is a corridor in the room that connects to the big bathroom. Everything was perfect! There was a very gentle driver, from the hotel staff, named Ganesh (from India), who drove us from the outside parking area to the hotel inside. He gave us lots of orientations and directions. The room service was very fast and we had good night meals (not cheap). There are lots of good "patisseries", "boulangeries" and restaurants around the hotel. All them are good. Don´t miss the Hotel de la Cité in Carcassone, my kids loved!!!

Driving up towards the walled city is an amazing sight! Staying in the Hotel de la Cite is even better. The day we arrived was blowing a gale and raining but we enjoyed being surrounded by so much luxury while the weather raged outside. The rooms are huge and very tastefully decorated and the bed was blissful. The staff were very helpful and friendly-we parked our car outside the walls and then were transported up to the door of the hotel but a very helpful porter-Ganache- who delivered all our bags straight to our room. It has all the luxury amenities at a very reasonable price for such an experience. Not to be missed if you are visiting Carcassonne.
