“Magnificent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My company held an event at this hotel for a small number of good customers. My room was in the main building and I must say that I was impressed with everything at this hotel. The rooms are fantastic - beautifully appointed in luxurious fabrics, colors and textures. Updated bathrooms (a rarity in historic hotels) and absolutely the finest architectural details make you feel as if you are living among royalty. The event was held in the conference center, with meals in the hotel restaurant. Both the conference center and the restaurant staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The location of the hotel cannot be beat for exploring all of Versailles, not just the palace. My top hotel recommendation in the France - outstanding!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the palace grounds provide an idyllic view stratight out of an Impressionist-era p...

“Extremely disappointing...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We arrived at Versailles after a 4 hours plus drive from Luxembourg. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the Concierge who asked us to proceed to check-in. Thinking that we could ask the hotel to help us park the car and send our baggage to the room after our check-in, we were told to park the car at the underground carpark and carry the bags on our own instead! How turn-off that was! While in the room, I went to look for drinking water only to find a minibar that says "the item that is being removed will automatically be charged to your invoice". Shouldn't the hotel provide a bottle of drinking water at the very minimum?? I called the front desk who confirmed they charge for drinking water. The bath robe provided is also stained.

The hotel is definitely a big disappointment considering it is part of the Hilton group of hotels and I definitely will not be coming back here to stay again.

“Perfect - nearly...”

Arrived at hotel after long flights and connections from the West Coast and after battling rush hour traffic from CDG in a rental car. Had upgraded room, so we were greeted warmly and whisked to a spacious room in the historical building with a balcony overlooking the Palace parkland (a picture postcard with with grazing sheep) and another in an enormous bathroom overlooking the hotel gardens. Had excellent American sized king bed (hurrah!) so after a light in-room meal, we drifted into peaceful, uninterrupted sleep. Throughout the stay, the staff were very helpful and advised us not to miss the market square and recommended a restaurant for lunch. Gallery bar was pleasant with a nice selection of drinks and the breakfast buffet offered many options. My only complaint was that the room we stayed in had a shattered mirror which not only was unsightly and spoke of lack of attention, it could have been dangerous. Hope that they have fixed this and if so, they would earn 5 stars in my rating.

Room Tip: Splurge for the park view in the historical building, if you can.

“Idyllic stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Some years ago I had attended a Conference at this Hotel when it was still owned by the Sheraton Group and I wanted to go back and see if it was as special as I remembered. It was!
We booked a room in the Palace (a must) which was located on the 3rd floor with a most beautiful view. We obtained a great rate through a hotel site but what I didn't realise was the fact that for a small additional amount we could be upgraded to one of their most spacious suites according to availability. Irrespective of your room you can be assured of a wonderful nights sleep as the rooms are quiet and the beds are very comfortable.

Whilst there we enjoyed an excellent dinner at L'Angelique a one star restaurant located in Versailles which was great value Euro40/head for a 3-course meal.

A must see, beside the Palace of Versailles is a visit to Le Petit Trianon which has only reopened to the public and an easy walk from the Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask about availability of upgrades.
