We stayed here to spend some reward points and were not disappointed. Came to Paris on Eurostar and only took about 10 minutes on the Metro (to Riquet with 1 change at Stalingrad) from Gare du Nord
Fantastic service from reception staff who gave us some local restaurant advice for lunch and evening which we took (A lunch at La Bastringue (on the way to the Riquet metro) and an evening meal at Draco which was fantastic.
Hotel itself was in great condition and it was so quiet and peaceful. We were lucky to get a canal view room which was brilliant - you can see the groups of men playing boules on the canalside and rowing on the weekends. We'd read reviews about breakfast being a bit chaotic but we didn't experience that. Yes the tables were quite close together and I could imagine if it was full it could get very busy but you are warned in the information about potential waiting times (we didn't have to wait). There were hot sausages and scrambled eggs then a cold meat and cheese selection as well as cereals, breads, croissants and pain au chocolats. The single toaster was the only hiccup as queues were building for that. But didn't bother us - we just had extra croissants!
We loved the area as it wasn't touristy at all (and hence a bit cheaper!) but it was still quick to get into central Paris if you're able to get the Metro. The local area is being redeveloped and I think lots of new places will be popping up all over the place. One of the best things we did was go to the Hammam du Canal which was behind the hotel. Spent 3 hours being steamed, exfoliated, wrapped in mud, saunaed, resting with Moroccan tea/pastries and then a massage. It's a new hammam and has mixed days on Saturday but if you're escaping to Paris for a rest as leaving children behind like us then this is a definite must!
Will definitely stay here whenever we come to Paris again.
