I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in late August 2011. The hotel is situated in Montparnasse area of Paris. The reception and lobby area is a small one, usually manned by a couple of people. Check-in was a breeze and I was allotted a corner room on 6th floor. The room was bit small (but probably okay as far as European hotels go) but quite clean. It had a LCD TV, electronic safe, mini bar and cupboards which seemed to be hidden very cleverly. (actually a very efficient use of space). Bed was comfortable and I had sound sleep on all nights. Bathroom was decent in size having standard shower on bath. The room had a view of a large graveyard which is located right behind the hotel. The breakfast had a decent spread having croissants, muffins, eggs, breads, fruits, yoghurt, juices, cereals, milk and tea/coffee. But the only complaint was that it was same everyday with no change in the menu. The hotel also offered a free wifi connection which I used most of the time. The connection was good and I was able to have a video skype chat from my room. I even used the connection for Skype phone calls on my iPhone.
The best part of the hotel is its location. The exit for Gaite metro station is right on the door step of the hotel while Gare Montparnasse (main train station) is a short walk away. From Gaite station, it was very easy for me to get to most of the Paris attractions including Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Champs Elysses in a very short time and that too quite economically. Montparnasse Tower, offering wonderful views of Paris, is also a short walk away. There is a good sized supermarket and shopping area right across the street (easily accessible by the underground metro exit in front of hotel). The nearby area had many bakeries, cafes and pizzerias. The street adjacent to the hotel had numerous Chinese, Japanese and Indian restaurants. But there were a number of adult shops also on this street which may be a concern for families, though their entrances were well covered by thick curtains.
The only bad incident was being trapped inside the lift for about 5 minutes (we were 5 people in a lift meant for 4, so not exactly hotel's fault). We rang the reception from the emergency phone but they said that we have to wait for about 20 minutes till a technician arrives. But fortunately somehow we were able to pry open the door and curtail the suffocating agony.
Despite this, overall the stay was very comfortable and convenient with easy access to heart of Paris. It is an ideal location for those who want to travel via Metro and are looking for only a clean, comfortable sleeping place.
