I found the Hotel Karraz on the internet, and decided to try it as it seemed to be in a good position, have larger than normal rooms, and in addition it was a self contained apartment which reduces costs.
The reviews were correct, it was a great place to stay. It really was a gem and the owner was extremely pleasant and helpful.
It is five floors of apartments and there is one apartment on each floor.
The rooms were large, plenty of room for my daughter and I, and even though the shower itself was small, the bathroom was a good size and overall it was extremely clean and comfortable.
The kitchen came in very handy, we mainly used it for breakfast, but it was good to have the option to eat in when we were tired.
The spiral staircase which takes you to your room which was quite steep, and I was very glad I wasn't on the 5th floor, but the staircase is probably one of those things that has made our stay more memorable.
Its position is amazing. Even though we arrived in the rain and took ages to find it, (because neither of us were good at reading maps) ... when we did find the front door, we looked to our left and there was our train station, the "Chatlet Des Halles", which is one of the main hubs of the Paris metro system less than 40 metres away.
n.b. to find the motel ..... just come out of the front door of the Chatelet Des Halles metro station and head left for 20 metres, then turn left again at the corner of the building and walk another 10 metres then its the first street on your right - easy when you know how !!
The motel is located in a pedestrian area of Paris (in the Forum Des Halles), and is surrounded by dozens of shops and little street cafes in every direction, and even though its a high pedestrian area, surprisingly, there is no problem with street noise at night.
The motel had Wifi so we were able to access the internet on our laptop.
Overall the Hotel Karraz was clean, roomy, pleasant and very comfortable, and I was extremely happy with my choice of Hotel. I would certainly recommend this motel to anyone (either couples or families) who are considering a few days or weeks in Paris.
