We stayed at Hotel Du Nord for 3 nights during our recent visit to the city of Paris. The hotel was located within 3 minutes walk from Jacques Bonsergent Metro Station along a quiet road. The small cutesy boutique hotel was elegant and had a retro, country feeling.
We had a triple room at level 4 and it was very brightly decorated with green beddings. The clean room wasn't big but it was cosy for the 3 of us. The well-maintained bathroom was small but it was certainly functionable.
Breakfast wasn't included in the room rate but for 7.50 Euros per person, we had a selection of 3 breads, home made apple jam, orange juice and nice coffee. We ended up having our daily breakfast at our own cosy spot at the basement.
I liked that the service staffs in this hotel were all very friendly and helpful to our needs. They spoke good English. Prior to this trip, I had misgivings about the French being arrogant. Hotel Du Nord certainly helped changed that misconception. In fact, everywhere we go in Paris, we encountered very nice Parisan hospitality.
For expensive Paris, Hotel Du Nord provided good value for money in a decent neighbourhood that wasn't too far from the sights. We certainly enjoyed our stay and playing with the friendly dog by the door. However, the room and bathroom might be on the small side, this might not be recommended for all travellers. We did not have any problems with the size though.
Room Tip: Ask for a room that faced the back. However, you are facing somebody's backyard.
