We stayed for three nights at this hotel. I was very worried before I got there because of all the bad reviews, and I have to say most people on here do have a point. However, it is liveable.
The reception area is quite nice, but once you go up the stairs the place is old and filthy. When we got there dirty laundry was lying in the stairs, and a construction work was going on on one floor with dust and tools everywhere. When we got in to our room it matched the stairs, it was old and worn. The sheets however were clean and washed, and so where the towels. The covers (more like blankets...) were worn, but also seemed clean.
The door was a bit difficult to lock, but we Could lock it. There was a small bathtub instead of a shower, but there was no shower curtain or drain on the floor so whenever we showered the floors turned into a lake. There was a perfectly nice TV in the room, but no remote. The walls are Very thin, you can pretty much hear everything that's going on. Also, as the building is very old, pretty much everything in there squeeks and make noises, and sometimes it almost sounds like the whole place is going to collapse. At night though, it's sufficiently quiet.
The staff can be rude, but not necessarily. One of the waitresses is particularly grumpy, I heard one guest who dared to ask for milk in her coffee without realizing that the waitress was already holding the milk in her hands. The waitress gave the guest the most rude look I have ever seen and slammed the milk jug on the table. It was bizarre, like something from a movie. I didn't see any of the other staff act badly the few days I was there, but they weren't exactly service minded either.
The breakfast is nothing special but perfectly alright, like people on here have said: you get one baguette and one croissant with nutella or jelly, and some butter. You also get coffee (or chocolate) and juice.
I do give this hotel 2 out of 5 since a.) it is very close to the metro station and Sacre Coeur, and b.) it is liveable and if you have a sense of humour (and don't plan on staying at the hotel room for anything other than sleeping) the condition of the hotel is actually a bit funny. At least me and my boyfriend laughed about it.
Room Tip: Try to avoid any of the rooms on the ground floor, especially room number 4. If you are a light slee...
