“Bed awful, parking a nightmare, staff unhelp and disinterested, stank of smoke and fantastically overpriced.”

Arriving on a Sunday morning by car, could not access the hotel because the road was closed on Sundays for pedestrian access only (we were not advised). Returning at night after business, could not access the gate (there is no actual front to the hotel) could not attract the attention of staff to open the gate and stood there in the cold and rain for 10 minutes. We drove to the hotel - big big mistake as there is no parking and no street parking and no municipal car park nearby. Staff completely disinterested in trying to resolve this problem and we ended getting tickets for illegal parking during the night. A brick-like mattress too uncomfortable to sleep on and to top it, covered by a plastic mattress protector. It would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor. Pillows with lumps and if you are a non-smoker do not go near the place as the rooms and reception stink badly of smoke. There is no cable news television channel available. All in all a ridiculous price for a room with no adequate shower. Just putting some quirky furniture and paintings does not justify the room being so inadequate.

“the most romantic and charming hotel I've ever seen”

I've been staying in Hotel Particulier de Montmartre at September 2008, and that was a great experience. It is not the standard hotel - you will not find minibar in the room for example and there is no gym/swimming pool, but if you want to spend romantic and unforgettable time - this is exactly what you need. I will definitely stay at this hotel next time.

“Over-priced and over-rated”

This is a hotel that would suit a romantic break where privacy and seclusion are top of mind. Certainly not a hotel for a Paris stopover or business trip. The hotel itself is beautiful on the outside, but a little tired and tacky inside. While the room was huge by Parisian standards, and had a certain charm, it was a little disappointing - a little scruffy around the edges (e.g. ropey old sofa in the corner) and with few amenities (don't bother if you need wifi, world TV, room service, or even a chance to make yourself a cup of coffee). Location wise - it's peaceful being hidden away, but with no food available (aside from breakfast) and a key system to get in and out it felt rather cut-off from the outside world. Staff and service were very friendly if a little chaotic (which for a hotel with only a handful of rooms was puzzling). Ludicrously expensive per night for what's on offer. Should really be classed as an interesting but no frills B&B. As another reviewer commented - it's really nothing special for what's being charged.

“Looking for Out of the Ordinary, but wasn't Amazing”

Perfectly acceptable stay but without real charm and nothing to exceed expectations. In addition, the prices are a bit on the steep side given amenities & service. Wouldn't go back.

“charming and intimate”

We loved hotel particulier, it is situated in a lovely garden secluded from the bustle of Paris, yet metro, restaurants shops are all in close proximity, also this area of Montmartre has a lower volume of tourist traffic.
It was a private residence until converted to a hotel but the room proportions were left intact, so they are really spacious and quiet, sheltered from traffic noise. I will definitely return when next in Paris, although we were offered a special rate when we booked so it represented good value.
It offers something different to other hotels that perhaps you mightn't find elsewhere. You should note that when we were there the bar was only open Thurs to Sun and it is a great pleasure to sit in the bar in the evening, although the peace and tranquility outside of these days brought their own reward, hard to fault!
