If you are looking for luxury and space this is not the place for you. If you are looking for an affordable place to sleep on a quiet beautiful street this hotel would be a great choice.
We travelled to Paris with two young children and their grandma. We decided to stay at the Tipi Hotel based on the affordable price for a quad. room. Getting from CDG to the hotel was very easy, we just took the RER from CDG and then got off at our stop and had to walk about 5 minutes to the hotel.
The staff spoke a little English, but my mother who is French was travelling with us, so there was no issue with language. When we arrived the front desk greeted us with a glass of orange juice and a smile. The hotel lobby is very small and quaint and there is an are where they have a few tables set up to eat breakfast (breakfast was 8 euros - I think). We actually walked a few blocks down and grabbed some croissants, juice, and fruit and the staff allowed us to eat in the lobby each morning- and even let us store our juice and yogurt in their fridge.
The rooms are very small, simple, and dated, but clean. Our room had only room for 4 beds and a bathroom. The beds were pushed together leaving only a small area to walk and keep our suitcases. Again, to be expected for the price in Paris in high season. The bathroom was old, but clean - it even had a shower with a shower curtain (something I had not witnessed during previous trips to Paris).
The location is fantastic as it is only a five minute walk to Denfert-Rochereau on the RER and Metro line and a five minute walk to Montparnasse.
Rue Daguerre is an adorable street with lots of fruit stands, restaurants, fish markets, etc. We enjoyed the peacefullness of the street and the location. The hotel did not have airconditioning, but the rooms open to a small courtyard in the center and we slept with the windows open and it was very comfortable.
The hotel did not have internet, but on a few occasions the people working the front desk allowed me to use their computer for a few minutes late at night (I tipped them a few euros for this). Also, the McDonalds near Denfert-Rochereau has free Wi-Fi.
Overall a great stay in Paris - stay away if you are looking to spend a lot of money on a luxurious room. On the other hand, if luxury is not your goal and you would like to stay on a quaint street in a simple hotel you'll love Tipi.
