“Nice hotel for a quick visit”

We stayed here in late September for three nights. It is not in the heart of the tourist area but is relatively easy to find from the Gare De Lyon, although closer to the Ledru-Rollins metro station. The two rooms for our party were spotlessly clean but there is no denying that they are very small. The decor could do with a refresh, especially the carpets. However, this is outweighed by a reasonable (by Paris standards) price and helpful, friendly staff who spoke enough English for us to get by. There is a rooftop terrace where we breakfasted each morning on croissants and pain chocolat from the boulangerie literally two minutes away and enjoyed a sun-downer after a hard day's sight-seeing. The local market is bursting with fresh foods, adjacent to this is a nice supermarket for basic supplies. Lots of local restaruants to take your pick from for evening meals. I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with the revamped bathrooms (ours was on the 3rd floor)

“Fabulous location, very friendly staff.”

This was my 12th time in Paris and we decided to "go local" Normally stay on Left Bank around Rue de Bac (still love that area) but this little gem of a hotel had everything we needed and in a wonderful old part of the city. So close to Place de Vosges, the Bastille and Marais areas (very old part of Paris), we even walked to Champs Elyssees from here. We took a Terrace room (recommended as the rooms are small but very clean and functional). Sitting out early mornings and late evenings was a delight and we enjoyed the late September Indian summer. Hotel staff were very efficient and friendly, every recommendation was excellent, especially the restaurant at the end of the adjacent laneway (L'ebeauchoir - we ate there 3 nights - so good). Not a touristy area and we found ourselves conversing with the locals who were all wonderfully friendly and hepful. for breakfast, try La Chat Bossu (translates something like the Bent Cat or Hunchback Cat - everything super fresh!). Each morning we found a fresh farmers' market about 30 metres from our hotel door anf an abundance of great cafes and eateries. Also very close to the Theatre Main d'Or where you must catch the brilliantly funny show "How to be a Parisian in One Hour". Olivier is bringing this one man stand up routine to Melbourne for the 2012 Comedy Festival and it will be a huge hit for sure. Hilarious (and 99% in English so easy to understand - but definitely not for under 15's).

Room Tip: Take a terrace room on 4th floor if possible, just that extra bit of room and open air access makes...

“Good location - decent hotel”

We had a room with a balcony which was nice cause we could sit out at night and relaxed with a cold bottle of wine while our daughter slept. Rooms are quite small but decent. Location is good if you are coming in or leaving from Gare du Lyon. The area is very nice if you like local markets, shops and restaurants. Would go there again. Nothing very fancy though - reasonable value for money.

“Great hotel in a great location”

We stayed at the Paname Hotel Bastille the last 2 days of July and were very pleased with the accommodations. It is located just a 5 minute walk from the Ledru-Rollins metro station on Line 8 in a nice, quiet residential district. It's a funkily decorated place with a lot of character - think an updated 70's look! We took the Roissybus to Le Opéra. It was about an 8 minute walk to the Opéra metro station and maybe a 10-12 minute metro ride to Ledru-Rollins. The check-in was good and as we arrived fairly early we were fully prepared to be told we'd have to wait for our room to be ready. Luckily, they had a room ready for us when we arrived. The room was comfortable and quiet and the facilities were clean. The WiFi is free and worked well. The bathroom had a shower and tub which was nice. There is a rooftop terrace that was perfect for sharing a glass of wine as the sun is setting after a day of sight-seeing .The staff was helpful with restaurant recommendations and were good about any requests we had. Two blocks away is a daily morning market that is fun to poke around. The price was great by Paris standards and I would recommend this hotel unreservedly. I hope it will become my go-to hotel in Paris!

Room Tip: All rooms should be good as it is a quiet location

“Very smart and very friendly”

My wife daughter and I stayed at the Paname for three nights in July. The hotel is very smartly decorated in a modern style without being flashily trendy. We had two rooms, both extremely comfortable and quiet overlooking a small garden and traffic free street. The roof terrace is a nice touch! The Bastille, Place des Vosges and the Seine Islands are an easy walk away and the nearby street market at Place d'Aligre is a delight. There is a plentiful supply of coffee bars and restaurants nearby, the Berbere immediately beneath the hotel was particularly good for North African cuisine. Staff were efficient, polite and welcoming. Highly recommended!
