We stayed at hôtel de Belgique, near Le Moulin Rouge, two years ago. We were four students, four parents and me, the french teacher, all from Sweden.
The hotel was old and it was a long time since they had had the rooms redecorated but it was still OK. All our three rooms had bathrooms with showers, old but as cleans as they could be. We asked for more toilet paper and got it immediately. They made the beds every day and cleaned the bathrooms and they changed sheets once during our six-day-stay.
They served a simple continental breakfast. They were very nice to speak to (at least if you spoke french) and helped with a smile. Our experiences are good. It's an old and very simple hotel but also very cheap and I think you get what you've payed for, you shouldn't expect more.

This hotel is the most unhygienic, rundown place I have ever seen, everything was broken, the toilets don't work, the showers don't work, there is no hot water in the showers that do work and no cold water in the taps in the sink. The beds are stained and in very bad condition, the sheets are stained and yellow, the beds are not made everyday and in the week we were there, we did not get clean towels. The service is terrible, the owner of the hotel is rude and obnoxtious, we were staying in the hotel with some of our students, and he threatened one of our students with his fists, because he was recharging his mobile phone, when the power went out, and this was his fault. Another student walked in to a door and the panel fell out, it was already broken before and the owner wanted us to pay 238 Euros for this! When threatened with the police he changed his mind. He harrassed one of our colleagues, and threatened to throw her luggage out onto the street when she was out. The owner also entered the room where 4 of our young girls where sleeping, to fix a toilet... whilst one of the girls was in the shower. I would not recommend any one staying at this hotel. It is a disgrace! And how they mangaged to get 2 stars I don't understand, because you could find better places in the slums!
