“Next to RER train station Port Royal. Great for exploring Paris”
We booked this hotel as part of my 50th birthday present of a weekend in Paris. I've travelled worldwide yet unbelievably never been to Paris.
I've always heard a cross selection of peopl'e's views on Paris. Always sounded a love or hate place.
Arrival at Orly airport went very smoothly. Easy to take train from airport to main RER trains at Anthony station. From Anthony we went directly to Port Royal station. Hotel is just outside the station to the right. It looked very nice from the outside. Newly painted and smart. Inside was fine, small but ok. Both receptionists that worked over the long weekend we were there, were extremely polite and kind.
I had read many reviews on hotels in Paris, and the main comment was 'room small', so I was not at all suprised that our bedroom was also small.
Bed was short, I am 170, about 5ft 7, and my feet were right on the edge, so anyone taller than me, be prepared to have your legs dangling over the edge. Room was so, so....pretty basic, but we didnt expect more. Room was very hot, and we couldn't adjust the central heating, so we had the window open. The hotel faces out to main busy roads with a lot of traffic day and night.
Bathroom also small, but bright and clean. Shower had a curtain that clung to you when the water was spraying, but to be fair there was plenty of hot water.
Worst thing about the hotel was the 1st night when we arrived and finally went to bed, it was rather windy outside. Outside each window of the hotel they have an exterior blind that drapes the top part of the windows. At the bottom of the blind is a heavy weighted rod. We were kept awake most of the night by the banging of these blinds/rods that the wind made blowing them.
Other 2 nights the wind dropped, thank goodness.
We didnt take breakfast at the hotel, but chose to eat out at different places.
All in all, a nice little hotel, super location and on top of the excellent train system.
As for Paris, I loved it. Lots to see and do, fantastic restaurants, cafes, shops. The Parisians we encountered were all polite, helpful, service-minded and welcoming.
We will definitely return!
