“Just back from a fantastic trip to Paris !”

Myself and 3 of my close girlfriends have just arrived back from an amazing weekend away together in Gay Paree. One of my friends boss's had advised us to stay at Hotel Amour so we went with the recommendation and booked 2 rooms a couple of months ago . Reading more into the hotel a couple of days before our trip and looking at all the reviews on Trip Advisor, I did become quite nervous and was considering changing our booking as the reviews and photos really do not do it justice. The website does not give a lot of information and the travellers photos make the hotel look a lot smaller and darker than it actually is. The hotel ended up being way better than we imagined and we have to thank my friends boss for her recommendation as it was exactly right for all of us. It is in a perfect location to hop on the metro ( Pigalle or Saint George ) to any of the major touristy attractions but the area that Amour is in itself is fantastic . Montmartre is a short stroll away where you can get lost in little cobbled streets , going into the various little boutiques , cafes and patisseries. If you do not want to go far for breakfast or coffee the hotel is situated on a street lined with amazing places to eat and drink . The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helped us with booking taxis and reservations at restaurants, even running across the road personally to get something from another hotel for us. This is not just a 'hotel for lovers' , it is perfect for any age and any holiday maker who wants to stray away from the large hotel chains and discover a quirkier Paris. The rooms are all very different and very cool . At first I was taken aback by the very 'out-there' decor of our Japanese/Cartoon/Grafitti style room but I came around to loving it and will certainly always remember it ! The bed was extremely comfy and the room was a perfect size with a seperate large bathroom. All in all I would totally recommend this hotel for anyone venturing to Paris . The only negatives....... The restaurant downstairs is absolutely gorgeous but quite pricey and the rooms needed another mirror in the bedroom and a main light to brighten it up a bit.
Stay at Hotel Amour for a very memorable trip to Paris!

“Enamoured with Amour”

First went to lunch in the garden here when it opened 4/5 years ago... back then it had a deliberate bo-ho lived in look, but was brand new.. Now it has the warmth and comfort of a well-worn leather armchair... your experience depends on where you sit, slightly worn at the edges, but you can ignore the marks and stains, cos in the end it's your favourite chair.

The restaurant/bistro vibe continues to draw visitors (there was a queue on my arrival on Sunday lunchtime) and in the evening, the place is beautifully lit. The rooms are basic , and not for everyone's taste, that's for sure, and this is absolutely not equipped to be a business hotel.. i like it because it's not a corporate business hotel, but with that, leave all expectations of concierge/rooms service/business lounge at the door..

“Disappointed”

I stayed here for one night based upon a colleague's recommendation that the Hotel Amour is a charming, typical Parisian hotel. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, I can only describe the hotel as odd. I had a small room on the first floor - reasonably comfortable but dark. The bathroom had a small tub with hand-held shower so not easy to maneuver. The location is convenient to a couple Metro stops but so much that I would recommend it. Busy restaurant but quiets down after 11. In summary, look elsewhere for a charming Parisian hotel.

“Had a great stay here...”

I loved the hotel amour. A few of the staff (Alexandre, Francois, Sameh, patrick) were lovely and made me feel like I had come home to my local bar at night! (some of the other restaurant staff were a bit snooty). It could be quite loud at night on occasion but the rooms were very cozy and original, breakfast was fabulous. I stayed there twice in august and will stay again for sure. Great par of Paris, too. Vel'ib station and metro right around the corner, too. Handy for train to airport as well. Grrrreat beds

Room Tip: Loved the single. Nice n cozy, even for 2

“This is not a hotel for Lovers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

This hotel is called Hotel Amour, but nothing in this hotel is made for Lovers. Ok the rooms are stylish and the food at the restaurant is excellent, but the service is the WORST I have ever seen in my entire life and i am a big traveller, used to staying at various hotels around the world, so i have certain standards when it comes to service. Hotel Amour was extremely disapointing. Firstly when you walk in there is no one to greet you or to welcome you. The manager is smoking a cigarette outside the entrance and he sees us walking in with our luggage not a glimpse, not a look or a not a smile to welcome us. The staff doesnt say hi to guests arriving. The manager sees us inside waiting in the middle of the room trying to grab someon's attention but no one comes to us. After he is finished smoking the manager walks back in and passes next to us whitout even asking "may I help you?" or "did you just arrive? (even though is just saw us arriving!) can I help at all? may I show you your room?"... Absolutely nothing... like if guests are part of the decor and they are so not important that you can just walk by without seeing them (even though you pay 200+ euros a night!). I told my partner "Is that a joke?". Let me explain how it works, as a guest, if you need anything at all you will need to express it to the staff otherwise no one will ever look at you or propose their help for anything !! And in a nice respectful way, with a smile even though you are already upset by the way you have been welcome. Otherwise they will be even ruder to you. Basically, this place is typical arrogant Parisian (and Im a Parisian myself so I know what I am talking about), the staff think they are so cool and trendy that everyone else (especially the ones spending money in their hotel) is $hit (excuse my French!) and dont deserve any respect. The staff is behaving like they are part of the Haute Bourgeoisie and that they shouldnt be seving others ! thats basically the mentality. This is NOT professional at all !
My boyfriend and I live in Paris, we just wanted to have a romantic experience in a unusual place, we are very much in love with each other and thought that would be the perfect hotel for us. But to be honnest, we were the only couple there. All the people having dinner in the restaurant were tables of men (one big table of 10 men, another table of 3 guys, and families with screaming children! etc...). Not romantic at all! But the worst part is that you book this place because you want a romantic experience, but in the end my boyfriend and I spent the whole evening criticising the staff and service because we were so amazed at what we were seeing !!! At some point the waitress slammed the butter on the table !! I was in shock, because we were the only loved up couple in there and I would have thought Hotel Amour would treat Lovers well and make everything for them to have the bext romantic experience (in reflection of their name). And to finish off, we ended up fighting because of too much negative atmosphere so not a romantic experience at all!
