A very disappointing hotel with extremely cramped rooms, poor services and ineffectual management. The quality of the breakfast is truly terrible. The hot food is normally cold and inedible. The fresh fruit is served with syrup - canned. The staff in the restaurant were totally incompetent and showed no sign of having any training regarding working a restaurant. The swimming pool was a good size and heated to a good level. The associated gym was very poorly equipped - four pieces of equipment that were home domestic standard as you might buy in Argos. Prior to our arrival, the reception was asked to book a restaurant. The reception fumbled the booking which resulted in a wasted journey 35 miles across Paris. The location of the Hotel is not ideal and not particularly near any points of interest. This hotel will definitley not delight.

Anyone who has visited Paris will tell you that the standard of hotels there is worse than terrible, so the Amiral was a pleasant surprise - very good standard (in Paris you automatically delete a star) considering the price paid. I tried enquiring by email directly with the hotel but never got a reply, so booked through an agency website instead. We had a room on the fourth floor overlooking the main road. I'm a light sleeper but slept well despite the traffic outside. Small bathroom, true, but I didn't spend my days in there anyway :) Wonderful pool to relax in after a day's sightseeing prior to showering and off to dinner or a show - with very strong hydro-massage jets of water too (if they're on). Take rubber flipflops with you since bathrobes but no slippers are provided. Tried the exercise machines but couldn't turn them on - didn't bother to ask since I didn't have much time for them anyway. Breakfast is offered at 18 euros a head, but I opted out this time. BTW there's free WIFI access which is helpful when searching for somewhere good to eat nearby - ask for the password at reception. Elena at reception is ever so helpful - the other guy had sent me to buy an adaptor for my cellphone charger when they had three in the drawer, while we got a real soaking when another one could not provide an umbrella to stave off an unexpected downpour. Small negatives indeed though compared to upside to this hotel. Not in the hub of Paris but all sights are easily accessible thanks to the metro which you practically fall into as soon as you step out of the lobby - right at the next corner! Incidentally, do not leave Paris without having dinner at "Au Petit Marguery", just beyond Place d'Italie..... but that's another story :)

We stayed for 4 nights, two adults and a child of 2,5 years. Location is good, metro station Tolbiac across the street.10-20 min. to all major sights, and let's face it; Paris is huge, so there is not a single hotel that will put you in walking distance from everything. The hotel is nice, staff is helpful and everywhere clean. The rooms are small, but standard size for Paris, so about half the size of hotel rooms in the rest of the world, buy nice. We had a room facing the garden which had a balcony with chairs and a table, perfect for a light breakfast, since breakfast is however nice, frankly overpriced at 20 euros or. person. We used the pool every night when returning from a long day of sightseeing, and it was total bliss. Good pool.
There are several good bistroes close by, Cafe Canon has good bistro food but no high chairs for small children.
Very recomendable.

the location of the hotel is very close to the subway but not within walking distance to any of the important points of interest. The most unusual thing about this hotel was that every room had a shared balcony where the neighbors could just wander around and look inside your room. Very small rooms, bathrooms are tiny, no view, breakfast is extra charge and not that good. The staff was friendly but lacked in hygiene.The lobby smelled as if showering was optional.
