“Suburban views”

Stayed: August 8th-11th 2011

The Hotel was reasonably easy to find it was right round the corner from the underground service. Very easy to get to Eiffel tower from here, and pretty much any destination.
Now for the hotel:
Pleasant looking from the outside, however very much different from the inside; lot's of construction work was going on: I wish we had received some sort of notice. One of the stair cases was cordoned off because of this (Ended up getting lost in the hotel more than twice!, as the signs were unclear)

That being said the room was fabulous!, the bathroom was very big and the bed was wonderful too. Took us ages to find the TV remote as the TV didn't have any buttons. Everything was clean, nothing smelled bad. :)
There was some construction going on outside our room but that didn't disturb us. We didn't buy breakfast so can't comment on that (too pricey for 15euro if a shop around the corner has sandwiches for 2euro.)

Staff were a bit uppity, only one staff member, an older gent as I recall, was nice enough to us. Others were...a bit off for some reason. Like after check in, we were nothing... Unfortunately.

But other than that it was good for the bed and sleep! (Although the area is full of cafe's and night clubs, so don't know if it will be to your tastes, I had 2 rude comments said to me by strange men.)

Room Tip: Higher floors better for urban French views!

“Dont Stay Here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Stay somewhere else! The staff is very unfriendly and unhelpful, the night staff was worse than the day staff. The first room we were given was horrible, it was dirty and smelled, the bathroom was missing multiple tiles, I was scared to touch anything! I asked the night guy and he was annoyed at my request for a new room and said that there wasnt any availble, even though when we checked in 15 minutes earlier he told me teo rooms had been book in my name, where did that second room go in 15 minutes! So the next moring when i broke down in tears to the day guy he gave me a new room. The new room was not much better, old and dirty, the bedspreads have to be at least 20 years old. Oh and the toilet didnt work! They did actually fix the toilet. The hallways are worse than the rooms, the carpet and walls are covered in stains and of cousre smelled. And if you think that you can get a drink at the hotel bar to help you cope with the disgusting hotel, well you would be mistaken, the bartender is as rude as the rest of the staff when getting your drinks. Dont stay here! Paris is expensive, we stayed here becuase part of our stay was paid for with frequent flyer miles, but we wouldnt stay here again, spend the extra money and stay somewhere nice, anywhere would be better than this hotel.

“Very pleased and will definitely return.”

A very pleasant hotel. We were very pleased with its location. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was undergoing renovations for disabled access and they appeared to be spending quite a bit of money bringing it up to a good standard. During our stay our bed, which was already very comfortable, was replaced with a new one along with many others in the hotel by the look of the amount which were being brought in. We would reccommend this hotel foir people on a budget and not wanting to stay in a very busy part of Paris.

Room Tip: No rooms have any views but rooms at the back are away from the street and ours was very quiet.

“Great little hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

Recently returned from this hotel. Great big room, really nicely decorated. The air con didn't work but there was a fan in the room and we did open the windows. Bathroom was small but clean, with a hp bath, which was a bit tricky to get in and out of.
There was building work going on at the hotel but we didn't hear a thing! Only seemed to be painting going on, even though some parts looked like a building site. Very clean, no dust anywhere, just didn't look as attractive as it could have, but we were mainly out and about in the city, not sitting in looking at hotel decor! The receptionists all seemed really helpful, especially Julien, who was able to provide me with maps of the city and metro station and RER.
Really good location, nice local cafe's and restaurants just up the road plus, Starbucks, McDonalds and Pizza hut! Metro system is excellent and easy to navigate once you get your bearings, always fairly busy though so can be a bit difficult when carrying luggage about.
Hoping to return really soon as I still have lots to see in Paris and I loved it!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 411, very large, quiet.

“Mixed feelings, but overall a decent place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

Night receptionist was rude, day receptionists were great. A/C did not work, and the night receptionist said it was a problem that would not be solved for days, so she gave us a small fan and told me to open the window. Street noise was moderate and almost bearable. Luckily, the weather was cool in late June. I'd call ahead and confirm A/C works before booking. Room was very clean and nice, especially for the price. Wireless did not work with my iPhone due to the sketchy login service they used. However, a shared computer in the common area worked well. Waiters providing the morning buffet offered me free coffee though we didn't order the buffet. This was a nice change from other experiences in France. Best part was a short walk to two key Metro locations. However, this street is kind of rough while one block south, it's much nicer with the ideal "french" cafes and shopping. Bottom line, a great value for the quality of the room and location. Expect some shortcomings on additional services. But the price was a great for what we got.
