I wanted a reasonably priced hotel, within good distance of the Metro, a comfortable bed in a clean room, wifi included and in a relatively quiet street. I could not have asked for more!

The staff were very helpful and forgiving of my broken French, I had no external noise in my room - either from outside or the corridor (and the lifts were right by the room), the free water was welcome, I was spoilt for public transport choices and the wifi was a boon / essential for researching what to do the following day.

I saw the places where the rest of my family were staying, and yes they were more central, but the hotels and rooms were not as nice, not as large, had very unfriendly staff and were far more expensive: 20 mins and €1.27 carnet ticket later and I was happy bunny.

I am not a big breakfast person so Gare Montparnasse was handy - Paul's "L'Express" package for €2.60 did the job but there were plenty of other choices.

Location is fine and rooms are clean and well-sized by Parisian standards.

Let downs:
Some of the staffs can be not so cooperative.
In some rooms, life/elevator noises can be heard rather loudly.

I like Novotel because the quality and style are predictable. This hotel is no exception.
Clean and comfortable rooms and good service.
It is also affordable.
My only concern was that I read something which said it was 1km from the Left Bank. It sure felt like a lot longer to me.
It is close to the Tour Montparnasse which has a rooftop restaurant. The food is over-priced and not that great but it has an incredible view over the city and off course the Eiffel Tower.
It is also close to the Metro.

I stayed at this hotel and it was great. The rooms are small, but they are clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to a few different metro stops. They allowed us to check in early since our flight arrived an hour early which was great! They also had great internet and bar and restaurant services. The area is more business buildings, but there are some little cafe's near by as well. Great view of the Eiffel Tower on the main road off of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and they were glad to give us advice and directions for our stay in Paris. I would definitely stay here again, and hope to come back soon!
