My husband and I came for a 4 night trip to Paris, we were on a budget and did not plan on spending much time in the room. Hotel de la Place des Alpes was a "gem" for our needs. It was clean, quiet, good location (with metro steps from the front door and a shopping center across the round-about), and had a friendly staff. Most of the receptionists were very responsive and helpful. They took the time to explain to us about the best ways for transportation and how to make international phone calls (using France exit code, etc.) Everyone was pleasant. Also, the hotel offers free Wi-fi! We had a friend that was also staying in Paris and she lost her passport. She ended up having to stay with us an extra night in the hotel- the staff was accommodating and we did not get charged for an extra person in the room. We would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling on a budget and those who do not expect to spend much time in the room.
Our cons about this hotel match most of the other reviews listed on the site: very small room and very small bathroom.

Stayed here for 4 nights in a double for my wife and I and a single for my grown-up daughter. Yes, as other guests have said, the bedrooms and bathrooms are small but both were kept incredibly clean with fresh towels everyday. The staff are extremely friendly and if you just try a bit of French they are very helpful. I never understand why some reviewers expect all hotel staff around the World to be fluent in English. It is not their language after all and as visitors to their Country don't you think we should try and speak some of theirs?

Continental Breakfast can be taken in the Hotel for €6 per person and was more than adequate for loads of coffee available..

The area is very pleasant (unlike some districts in Paris) and you feel perfectly safe even late at night. 20 minute walk to The Seine and further 20 minutes to Notre Dame. As previously reviewed, Metro and Public transport links are excellent. From CDG just get the RER to Denfert Rocherau and then short metro trip to Place D'Italie on Line 6. Very convenient!

Also can recommend a walk to Denfert Rocherau from the Hotel past all the market stalls (seem to be there everyday) and shops and then when you arrive visit the Catacombes which are located in the main Square.

I researched for hours on Tripadvisor before going and thoroughly recommend this Hotel but don't expect luxury nor loads of space in your room! You get exactly what you pay for though.

Stayed for 4 nights in a single bedroom. The room was clean and came with a comfortable double bed, (small) television, safe, and free fast wifi. Bathroom was small, but for a single it didn't matter. Ask for room not on street as it can be noisy at night, even with the window closed, but view was fantastic. It is less then a five minute walk from Place d'Italie (a rather major metro station) which was a 20 minute ride into center city. The area was very nice and residential- as a single women I felt comfortable walking around by myself after dark. Only complaint was the rooms were cleaned very early in the morning. One morning I was about to start getting dressed at 9:45 am when someone walked in to clean- didn't even knock first. She left apologizing, but it was still very strange. Otherwise, staff was very nice and accommodating. I didn't try 6 euro breakfast, but there is a cheap McDonald's down the road which serves very good latte's and croissants for under 3 euros. Overall, great find for 60 euros per night.

Place De’italie is about 20 minutes on the train to central Paris. The Hotel is a five minute walk from the station. There area is quite pleasant and relatively safe, although I did see a tourist get there rucksack snatched, so be warned – you are never completely safe in a big city. There are many restaurants neareby, but food is never cheap in Paris. The Assis Au Neuf restaurant across the road from the Hotel was excellent. There is also a local supermarket and Cinema.

The hotel has rooms facing the street and some facing a courtyard (back). The former offer better views the later less street noise. Some rooms are served by a very tiny lift (2 persons with cases will just fit in), but a few rooms have no lift service at all. There is a spiral-like staircase. The hotel has no bar or restaurant.


The younger receptionist guy (with pony tail) was charming and spoke excellent English. The owner (older) only spoke French but we managed to get buy.

The rooms all look dates and have 1970’s style orange curtains and bed-spreads which may be original? The furniture is old MFI laminate style. The rooms are all compact with small bathrooms. They do have a safe and a fan, but no air-conditioning, but large windows (many with Juliet balconies) do open wide. Our room had a new mattress and new shower curtain. The linen was very clean as was the room. Unfortunately there is no kettle or fridge.

A very simple breakfast is provided for a $6 supplement but there are lots of cafes around. Even the local McDonald’s sells croissant and cake in Paris which is cheaper than the hotel breakfast. There are many bakers selling delicious filled baguettes.

I’ve given this hotel four stars because it was very cheap and offered everything that I required from a budget hotel. It is NOT a four star hotel.
