The Perdrix Rouge is clean, has very friendly staff who are fairly helpful with any queries you may have and is in a perfect location from which to see all of Paris. The hotel was quiet and although we didn't participate in the breakfast it looked pleasant enough. We did however get coffee and morning munchies at the cafe/bar just outside of the hotel and these were delish...but the price meant we were paying for ambiance as you do in Paris.
This hotel was so easy to find and even more easy to see the city from. It is in a reasonably nice neighbourhood, with a great bonus that it is a 10 minute walk to the Parc des Buttes Chaumont which you must take time for a quick picnic here, if not for the park itself then for its stunning views westward of Montmartre and the Sacré-Cœur Basilica.
The metro stop Jourdain is literally on the hotel's doorstep. It was an easy 15 minute metro ride to anywhere you might want to go in Paris. It is also fairly close to the Pere Lachaise cemetery in the case that you want to do some walking. It is very easy to get to Paris Nord Train station if you are coming by Eurostar and I am sure a taxi ride would not be more than 20 euros (just a guess) from the station to the hotel if the metro seemed a bit daunting (you can also take a bus directly to and from).
The room we had was clean and cozy. There was a TV with BBC news channel. The hotel came with soaps and shampoos, towels were changed everyday. The decor was neither modern nor antiquated but it had a charming view onto the street below. For the price, I had been pleasantly surprised by the comforts that were there.
Overall, my boyfriend and I spent 3 great days in Paris, we saw everything we wanted to, had perfect nights sleeps and the hotel, although economically decorated, provided everything we needed. :) I recommend staying here to a) save some money and b) save a 40 minute commute into the city centre from a hotel in the burbs.
