Nicely refurbished hotel with polite personnel and good location in the district of Marais; as all of the hotels in this area, and maybe in all Paris, the rooms are small by reasonably designed; the bathrooms though are surprisingly comfortable, with the only exemption the very small washbasin which is only for hands washing – if you try to wash your face your head knocks the above glass-shelve and the floor becomes a mess.

We’ve stayed in the same hotel (my wife and my self), last October 2010 and we’ve liked it; the rate 130 Euros per night without breakfast; reasonably priced, then, for its quality and services.

This year, as “repeated customers”, (actually it applies to all October clients), we’ve paid 150 € instead of the regular 180 € (!!) without breakfast. We find this rate expensive as an overall critique…

I have stayed all over Paris from expensive 5 star chains (for work) to basic budget hotels in the Marais. This is the best option that I have come across if you want:
1. to stay in the Marais / gay district
2. are on a budget of c100 - 130 euros
3. want something vaguely modern.
My room was on the 2nd floor, on the corner overlooking the road. Two windows, so lots of light and a relatively modern bathroom, with a large shower. In central Paris, unless paying top dollar, ALL hotel rooms are small - so get over it or go and stay in the suburbs. I could walk all the way around the double bed (a rare privelege) and there was space to store my suitcase out of the way, so I was happy. There was a flatscreen TV, free wifi and the bed was comfortable. The room could have been cleaner, but it wasn't a major issue.
Rue Des Archives is noisy at night and it being a Saturday night only really quietened down at around 4am. I skipped breakfast as the dinning area looked dark and a tad depressing and it is more fun to eat out anyway.
I much preferred this to Hotel de Roubaix or Hotel Saintonge, both of which are nearby and where I have stayed.

Great location. Clean room. Comfy bed.

Very small room (even for Paris standard). Very noisy. We can hear every car that drive by and people talking on the street till the wee hour.

Thank goodness we moved to a very spacious and quiet apartment after two nights of staying here.

This hotel had been recommended to us by friends, and we were shocked when we arrived. The carpets throughout the hotel are filthy (so much so that we didn't want to walk on them barefoot), the drains in the bathroom did not work (so the shower floods if you stay in it for more than 2 minutes), and the noise from the street makes it hard to sleep. The location is ideal, but that is the only thing this place has going for it. For the prices they charge, you would think they could change the carpets! This place is a scandal.
