“rude staff. avoid unless you want your trip to paris ruined”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

due to a genuine mix up with the booking website I used, I raised my concern with the hotel, and instead of anyone working to rectify it, I was shouted at and insulted by one of the rude female receptionists who then hung up the phone on me and then the hotel consequently cancelled my booking and then lied that I supplied false details. Absolutely appalling behaviour. Wouldn't stay here if it was the last place in Paris.

However, they did me a favour, as I found a really good last minute offer on a much nicer hotel where the staff were fantastic.

Staff here are rude, indfifferent and know next to nothing about customer service. Save yourself the hassle and book elsewhere!

Room Tip: book elsewhere

“Excellent value for money - super location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

(We stayed here for 4 nights in July 2011)

I think people need to manage their expectations when they see such good reviews.
It doesn't mean you're going to get a 5 star hotel - it means that overall (for what it is) it meets expectations and gives very good value for money.

Which is exactly what Hotel L'Ouest was!
Considering location, the cost and what you get for it (compared to other Paris hotels).

The hotel was very easy to find and only a minute's walk from Saint Lazare train station / metro. Also good walking distance to many many attractions on foot!

Check in was quick and easy and the night guard was incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable (I think his name is Albert). The lift is super tiny and barely big enough for 2 people - but it works.

We had a twin room on the 2nd floor, street facing. Despite this, the noise was minimal and certainly didn't disturb. The room was spacious, super clean with laminate flooring. Plenty of cupboard space, a small desk & a chair.
The beds were perfectly fine and mattresses good enough for a good night's sleep.
Room temperature (in summer) was good and never felt too hot (even with the windows closed at night).

Free super fast unlimited wifi!
Breakfast was offered at an extra €9 but we chose to explore the various cafe's in the area for this. The restaurant below the hotel is pretty decent for some good coffee & croissants too.

The bathroom was spacious too with a bath as well as seperate (open) shower area. Good water pressure and nice shower.

Overall, this hotel definitely comes recommended and I'd certainly stay here again.

“Very comfortable 2-star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We stayed at this 2-star hotel for 4 nights. Our room (nr 12) was - upon our request - a very quiet room overlooking a very small inner court. The room was recently renovated. It is simpel but clean. The bathroom was better than average in Parisien hotels. Again fully renovated with both a shower and a bath. It's a shame the safe is too small for laptops, but otherwise the room is really very good (and quiet).
The hotel is located just around the corner of the Saint Lazare train station (with a 5 minute RER E connection to Gare du Nord!) and is minutes away from the Lazare-Haussmann subway station. We enjoyed the hotels location as lots of attractions are within walking distance.

Room Tip: we had a room on the first floor overlooking a very small inner court (no view, but also no streetno...

“Comfortable, Well located, but noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed at this hotel for the first time after our fist visit to Paris in June when we stayed at the Lux hotel.
Overall we were satisfied, however we were annoyed by the noise in the morning. We were on the 1st floor, so any noise coming from the corridor came through even thought there is a second separating door with the hallway. Rooms were less glamorous than advertised on the website, though these are completely re-done new. So on the one hand we were happy that everything inside the room was new, it was not as stylish as advertised.
The bathroom is fully equipped with hairdryer, but in room 1 the hot and cold water for the shower were inverted.
The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of the Saint-Lazarre station and the champs Elysées. This proximity with the station made it a little nasty at night as it attracts the less reputable population, so avoid this area at night.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is ok: coffee, croissants, jam, yogurts at the self service. Its served from 7h30 to 10h30. We were attending a wedding that finished early morning on Sunday so had a tough time getting breakfast and checkout before 11h.
Overall, when compared to the Lux hotel, we valued this one more in terms of location and room comfort. However this one is more noisy and since I am very sensitive to noise I enjoyed the stay a little less. However if I go back and follow a more normal tourist agenda (going to bed at a reasonable time and getting up fairly early) I am sure my sleep would have not been as impacted.

“Lovely little hotel with great location and very reasonable rates!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

It is well known how expensive hotels can be in the centre of Paris. This little gem of a hotel is located right across the street from a metro and mainline train station and in a nice area of Paris. The rooms are of a reasonable size and clean and functional. The bathroom was newly remodelled. Front desk staff were always friendly and helpful, quite happily calling restaurants to make reservations for us. We would most certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher room are quieter as the hotel is located on a busy junction on a busy street.
