we randomly chose this hotel via the internet with no idea of what to expect. What first concerned us was during the cab ride from the airport, the driver said do not walk far from the hotel as the surrounding area is quite poor but montmartre was a 'wealthy' neighborhood and we would be fine once there. At the hotel, we were pleased with the location. There were plenty of restaurants outside the front door and once you are at the Sacre Coeur (140 steps away) there was plenty of restaurants to choose from. Best advice is to look at the daily special instead of ordering from the menu as the daily special was the best deal and included an appetizer, meal and dessert for under 20 euros. The hotel itself was basic. Rooms are quite small but completely adequate for those who will be spending their days touring about and simply going back to sleep. The linens were clean and comfy. The bathrooms did have some mould in the grouting of the tile but clean otherwise. Hair dryers, shampoo and soap included. The rooms were equipped with a flat screen tv also. Make sure to lock the room doors when you leave because they do not automatically lock behind you. The elevator is small but functional. Wifi is only available in the lobby but there are several chairs down there to sit and check the internet on your smartphone. The gentleman at the desk was friendly, full of smiles but had very limited english. He did his best to communicate and give directions but we did have to just figure it out ourselves. Breakfast in the morning was very basic of coffee, tea, orange juice, cereal and danish/croissants. The only issue we had was once you leave the hotel and head up to the sacre coeur, watch out for pickpocketers. There are several individuals selling goods outside the steps of the sacre coeur and did make us feel uneasy about being up there in the dark. Even during the day we walked from the sacre coeur to the metro below and enroute one of these individuals attempted to grab my purse. Keep valuables close to you and don't engage in conversation with them. The metro is 5-10min walk away and this is where you can grab the hop on, hop off bus. Overall, the hotel was basic, clean, inexpensive and friendly.
