When using Tripadvisor I like to take all reviews with a grain of salt but in this case I wish I would have paid more attention to the negative reviews. On arrival we were given a room on the third floor in the back which I thought would be great, not so. The lift can hold two people that's it, good luck with the luggage. You are on your own! Most times we used the stairs. Check-in staff couldn't be bothered.Girl that checked us in was not forthcoming with anything. We expect to be informed of things like, check-out time, breakfast hours(since we paid for it) internet code, even found out the hard way from the night manager that we were supposed to leave our key when we left the building! The room: I'm not sure when it was last cleaned. Hair on floor and blanket, shower was moldy and really gross, pillows were the worst, I mean old and lumpy, bedspread was stained. The lift made racket all night as well as other patrons who slammed doors all night long. We got very little sleep the four nights we were there, which is not the way we wanted to start our days. Freshly painted and the air worked well.
Staff was not helpful at all. Not sure if limited English or just their way of not having to help us. When we asked about local restaurants all they could say was the place on the corner(Gaston, which we ate at but no big deal) usually hotels and restaurants work together in a neighborhood, really strange. We found a few on our own.I had emailed the hotel prior to our arrival asking about a self-serve laundry near by. Never received a answer!
Breakfast room was nice, Mediocre food the same each day. Too tired to care!
Close to metro stop but on the fringe of things. Area could be a little dicey at night.
Lesson learned: pay attention to reviews. We were on a pre-paid reservation otherwise we would have left.
