“Good stay with a few let downs...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

Booked in for 4 nights in January, photos we saw on the internet were notting like the room we had, however even though our room was tiny (Room No. 11) it was quite nice. Creative lighting, bathroom looked modern and had a Sony LCD TV. The main down points to our room were: No toilet seat, Shower head kept slipping, part of the skirting board was removed showing abit of rotting wall, part of the floor was warped. But these did not have a major effect on our stay.

Overall the hotel has no lift but you wouldnt expcet that in buildings of this style in paris, the walls were very thin however and you could hear every footstep or if the person in the other room flush the toilet.

Breakfast room was in the bastment and was beautifully decorated, It was 10 euros for 2 coffee's 2 orange juces 2 crossants and 2 rolls so not bad.

Location is good for the price, very close to the metro or we choose to get the bus, No86 to the main centre (louvre area).

Would stay again but may look for a location closer to the centre.

“Good choice for a weekend stay in Paris”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2011

The quality absolutely corresponds to the price you pay, rooms simply equiped with beds, chairs and table, small TV. We had a bathroom as well, it was small but everything clean, towels were changed every day. The pictures of the rooms on their website were taken long time ago I guess, but still you have there everything you may need if you go to Paris for sigthseeing and stay in the hotel just for sleep. Breakfast for 5 euros was good, you get half baguette, big croissant, butter, jam, orange juice and as much coffee or tea you wish. Staff was always friendly, let us leave the luggage in the lobby after check-out.

“Worst beginning of the best holiday...Because of this hotel...”

I love Paris, before everything I have to say that I fell in love with this city!!!!:)I was thinking about Tripadvisor so much during our holiday...It helped me a lot in the decision making. The travellers photos, reviews...But the hotel was disappointing, and I want to share it with everybody...They made me so angry and distraught, so it is complain time!
I booked the hotel 5 months earlier than our trip... I found many hotels on the internet and it was very very hard and annoying to choose. Because I had questions but nobody answered them...I wrote to 3 hotels, but no reaction. Then I phoned, asked...But they didn't understand me, they said they don't speak english. So we decided with my boyfriend to choose this one, because of the red walls :) On their web page, there are red walls on the pics, we really liked that.
We arrived Place Clichy, in a little while found a hotel. I could not believe my eyes...There was scaffold everywhere, and this nylon thing covered all the hotel, there were big machines in front of the hotel...Looked very disappointing. Ok,there was nothing inside, but it was very stressed. We walked inside, tried to explain the hotel manager, that it is his work, to let us know theese things. If the hotel is under construction, he has to let us know. We are students, we collected our money months to months to have few days what is all about JUST US!We wanted theese days to be perfect... But who not:) So the hotel manager was rude and he didn't understand us why are we so enraged...We went up to our room, and opened the window... I don't say nothing, just wach my pics. Luckily we found a near hotel,so we moved :)That was not that clean, but we did not mind after this...Because everything was calculated in advance, how can we get to the places where we wanted to go, we wanted a near hotel. The hotel manager was nice and helpful, and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The Camelia hotel is clean and very small, the wi-fi only works at the hall, and you have to tipe a very very very long code :) It was funny, I had to tipe it 4 times because of the man who worked there did not know how to connect it...So this is my story, I hope it will not happen with you!

“Nice, but neighborhood a little noisy at night.”

This is a very small room with it's own bath (which is also extremely small, but works fine and was clean). It was a bit warm so we wanted to keep the window open at night, but it is near a major street and was too noisy so I was a little hot. It is very typical to have quite a small room in Europe, so if you don't mind and you are not in your room much anyway, it was good for the price. Not being to Paris before, I was a little worried that saving money on the hotel may put us in an unsafe neighborhood, but that was not the case. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. We tried to use the wireless internet, but it kept kicking us off and was only available in the lobby, so you are better to go down the street to the restaurants.

“Excellent value and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2009

Very central location close to public transport and easy enough to get around. Clean rooms and my party had 2 quad rooms with updated bathrooms. Lift quite small but still could carry one person with luggage, didnt have to use stairs. Breakfast was basic but sufficient and enjoyable atmosphere. Big variety of restaurants and entertainment in the area including Moulin Rouge. Walking distance to Hop on Hop off bus. Hotel was used in a movie called Taken starring Liam Neeson, so a bit exciting that my group stayed there too and recognised it.
