We stayed at this hotel over the expensive Christmas, New year period. The hotel was reasonably priced. The rooms were adequate, clean and light filled. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The location of this hotel, next to a supermarket and two minutes walk to the train station was convinent. I felt safe in the area as I was travelling with my husband, but wouldn't feel comfortable venturing too far from the hotel alone at night. Breakfast is not worth the cost, as the selection is not great. There were a couple of great bakeries to get breakfast within walking distance. Hotel is currently undergoing a renovation so is a little noisy, but should be nice when it is finished.

Sure, the personal happiness index is strongly related to the actual room rate you get. In my case, this was EUR80 for a double room w/o breakfast through booking.com. What I got for that was far beyond of what I expected: quiet, clean and spacious room with a very comfortable double bed, spotless (though outdated) bathroom, very kind front staff.

Inconsistent speed of (free) Wi-Fi and a shower head that has seen its best days were the only minor downsides - but hey - we are talking about a budget hotel here! I will be back.

It was the first time I was afraid to book a hotel after having read some of the recent reviews of Hotel Francais. Yet for my needs, everything fit. So I took a chance and booked.

It was lovely! And Eric, at the front desk in the mornings, should be working at the best hotel in the world for his front desk manner is impeccable, kind and competent. Of all the front desk hotel clerks I've ever met, he is by far the most memorable to me.

My trip involved a few back-and-forth stays in Paris. This was the hotel I chose for the second time I was in Paris because of train travel. The property is right across from Gare d la Est. When I came back to Paris for the third time before flying out, I chose to stay here again based on the great experience the time before.

The rooms were clean and very comfortable (no bedbugs). Great bed, very nice linens. Iron and ironing board. Two items not supplied were a kettle to boil water for tea (the other hotel I stayed at in Paris had this---loved it!) and travel sized lotion.

While the rooms could perhaps use a bit of an update (the tile in the bathrooms looked like 1977), but cleanliness is always my top priority (and I have germophobe tendencies).

Every year we go 2 a 3 days to Paris. It is a lovely city with so much diversity such as romance, museums and monuments, shopping ect..
And therefore we try a different hotel every year, given we both know that we from the very day in the city will stay with us more is that we have a clean room and a good bed and if it can be a quiet hotel room. I must say that we had read that the rooms of this hotel were not really big, and that's right! But it was big enough and clean, quiet and nice beds, we are both around the 1.88 Mt so indeed, I must admit that the bed was a bit short, But we had no big problem with it.



Save your self the breakfast of the hotel for 8.50 pp you can get delicious croissant or other tasty sandwiches at the real French bakery across the street from the hotel, for 1.50 euros for a cappuccino and a croissant or fresh 1.10 for le pain.

Frankly if you're in Paris am do you just want a clean room with a nice bed I will find it not important that a very large room.

Comfort room is more than enough and I have a flat screen tv and a bath at home too, so for those few square meters is more a comfort room more than enough and save your money for a nice dinner or for shopping.

At the front of the hotel you will have more street sound, logical so then you take a room at the back, for example, room 207. Vista is on a small artificial garden and a nice wall, but lekker stil.

You go with the car than you in a garage with parking for Opera Bastile 10.-per day and grab the 100 meters and you're with 5 metro stops near Gare de l'Est then it is 2 minutes walk to your Hotel: Beware! Hotel Hotel Francais!.
