“Highlight of our trip to Paris”

Two families, including children stayed at the Montparneasse in early June. Doing our research before hand, we found many of the hotels to be very expensive in Paris during this time of the year (surprise!) however the Montparnasse gave us an EXCELLENT value for our dollar.

Firstly, its situated at the perfect location. Its close to the metro station (literally a two minute walk) which makes sightseeing a breeze. Also, close by is a huge mall (which we didn't have time to check out due to our time shortage), however its a selling point for this hotel!

The rooms are wonderful, huge closets in both rooms with nice beds (after all, it is a hotel), very clean and spacious. We saved a ton of money by cooking at home in our little kitchen (bought some groceries at the local grocery market a few steps away from the hotel). Everything was included! Pots, pans, plates etc. you name it. Definitely saved us some money and made our trip more enjoyable.

The only issue we had was regarding the pickup time for our room key. They only made our room available after 4 PM so we basically wasted that day in doing nothing (we had arrived early in the morning). But to be fair, many hotels have this late check in and Montparnasse attempted to be helpful by providing our key at 3 PM (just had to call in to ask) so it was nice! The issue of having no front desk can be considered some what of a hassle, but we really didn't think much of it (do your research at home before coming regarding site seeing, or even ask at the metro stations).

After reading many of the bad reviews regarding key's not being found, room cancellations at the last minute etc., we were very hesitant in booking our room here. But rest assure! Our experience at this hotel/apartment was very good and we would definitely return here.

“We Loved our little Loft”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

Our family of 4, parents plus 2-20-ish year old, stayed in room 701 at this Montparnasse location and loved it. We only took the loft so we were concerned about the space but it was perfect. We had a very comfortable pull out sofa and a large bed in a corner. The sofa was very easy to close during the day so we had a large living area. There was a small table that 4 could have sat at, but we used the large coffee table for eating or the little breakfast bar. We even entertained 2 Australian friends for lunch 1 hot day and had plenty of comfortable seating and room. The A/C worked great! The toilet room is small, the tub room was small...but it had all we needed and everything worked. We even did laundry. We had enough space to unpack our suitcases and store them out of the way so for 5 days we were comfortable. The kitchen had enough space to make coffee and quick meals. Our room was VERY quiet I think because we were on the 7th floor and kept the window closed. We were shocked to see we had a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower!
We were intimidated to find our apt. because we don't speak French, but the directions from Bridgestreet were perfect and so we had NO problem at all.
-I don't think there is a more convenient location in Paris. The Metro is at the end of our street and connects to all of the places we wanted to go to. All the main lines are right there. It took 17 minutes to get to the prime Seine locations and museums. My husband ran every morning and it took no time to run to the Jardin du Tuilleries.
-There is a fantastic 'grocery' (more like a Target w/groceries in the basement) Monoprix, right around the corner...TONS of food choices, the Patisserie 3 doors down is the best, the Kurdish food across the street is fresh and delicious, too many Creperies to count, and lots of cafes/Brasseries. There are rough edges of course....it's a big city with lots of graffiti and a sex shop thrown in here and there, but we never felt uncomfortable or threatened and our 24 year old daughter walked to the computer lounge in the evening by herself. There were always lots of people...going to restaurants/shopping in this area and it felt very good and professional.
-I would stay in this same Apartment again! I highly recommend Bridgestreet!

“WARNING - DO NOT BOOK ANY ACCOMMODATION ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WITH BRIDGE STREET WORLDWIDE!”

We booked and paid well in advance to stay in an apartment at the Bridge Street Marais but instead ended up at Monparnasse without any warning, consultation with us, our travel agent or the provider. We were advised by way of a note in the lobby at the Marais address. Bridge Street offered to reimburse us for the taxi fare for the inconvenience. For us, it was not just about the inconvenience it was the fact that we were not provided with what we had booked and paid for. We spent a week of our once in a life time holiday in a location of Paris we did not choose, had not planned to visit and is not highly rated as a tourist destination. The service from Bridge Street was unsatisfactory. When we were finally able to make contact with them they were not interested and never got back to us. We had prepaid so they had nothing to lose. I would not take the RISK of booking any accommodation with Bridge Street as I get the impression they make these kind of changes regularly.

“Gives Paris a bad name”

We stayed at Bridgestreet Montparnasse for 5 nights at the strong recommendation of our travel agent. There is no concierge, so we had to book our tours with the hotel across the street .The manager there was gracious enough to understand our predicament and always answered any questions we might have. We had one key for 2 couples, we called the office for another one but it was never delivered, so we had to stay together or make sure one of us was there to let the other in. We had to buy our own toilet paper since no one checks to make sure all is well. We did laundry one night since we only had 4 towels for 4 people for 5 days. They washed but did not dry since that part of the machine didn't work, much to our chagrin the next day. Everytime we used the toaster and coffee machine together we would blow a fuse which my husband had to keep changing. We actually borrowed a coffee machine from friends upstairs since ours had no filter. We had 2 showers but only one toilet in the middle of the place with no sink to wash your hands. There is a courtyard but no access to it. A sex shop is below two doors down on the street. The t.v. did not work. I could go on but I believe that this should deter anyone from staying at the Bridgestreet Montparnasse. We will never stay there again since there are many top rated hotels for better prices than this 2 star property!

“Good bargain”

We needed an apartment for 5 people and found some websites listed this as a 4 people apartment which made it cheaper than those that listed it for 6 people!

The building itself was clean and not too far from the metro/train station, the train station also had a left luggage area which was handy (but a little pricey). It's located on the same street as a few restaurants/takeaways and bars, it's a little noisy at night but not too bad. There's also quite a few cinemas down the street too.

The apartment itself was basic with most facilities and there is plenty of shops around to pick up groceries. There was 2 bathrooms and a toilet in the apartment too aswell as TV (very few english channels) and internet.
