I am a Canadian professor in my early 40s and stayed in hotel Carofftel Gobelins on my way to Africa on a two-day stopover in Paris. I had been to Paris on two other trips including once with my partner at the time. On this trip, I was travelling alone and just wanted a quiet place where I wouldn't feel too lonely and hence something that was good value. I chose the right place. The staff was super friendly, the room was very clean and it was great value -- I paid 90 Euros/night. Furthermore, the room and bathroom were very clean. Perhaps the best feature was the location -- full of joy, a local market with fresh cheeses and breads and a combo of both tourists and Parisiens. Given how expensive Paris can be, I would recommend this hotel without any reservations. Especially if I'm travelling alone in Paris again, I will stay here. And keep in my mind that I have travelled in every continent in the world (except Antarctica) and have stayed at luxurious hotels and I'm quite picky. I repeat that his is nowhere near a 5-star hotel, but it's very very good value in Paris. Also the place was very quiet and I had two very good night's sleep.

Stayed in '09. Adequate room with nice view of the city. Breakfast wasn't memorable. Near metro, restaurants. Away from tourist sites. Safe to walk around at night. Wifi was terrible.

Pleasant small hotel with friendly 24 hour reception. Bedrooms are adequately large to comfortably park your belongings and the bathrooms we had were larger than we had anticipated (always a nice surprise). Another plus is access to WiFi for a nominal cost. Decor is a wee bit tired in places but, most important, everything was clean. Great location for accessing sights such as Notre Dame, Jardins du Luxembourg, St Germain etc (about 15/20 minutes walk). Easy access too to metro, buses, taxis. For those wanting a very reasonably priced and practical base in this area, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location!! Metro goes very quickly to anywhere you need. Shopping and restaurants, bakeries, market at Mouffetard very close but felt hotel lacked a little for the price. We had no hot water the first 2 days, sheets had holes, daughter's extra bed was taped with packing tape to hold up, credit card did not work on check out day which is becoming more of an issue in France with the chips. Great hotel if you want a simple but good hotel to just sleep in and get out and explore. Staff was extemely friendly and helpful!! Traveled with a family of 4 and was a good choice for so many people in one room. They even provided a fan in case of heat.
