I stayed here with my boyfriend, sister and her partner for 3 nights to celebrate her birthday. It made for an excellent base - the hotel is basically around the corner from the Opera and Galleries Lafayette; so there is plenty of cafes, shopping and metro stops very close by. It’s a fantastic spot for walking to the city’s main tourist attractions though – we walked up to the Moulin Rouge and Sacre Couer one evening, and then walked to the Louvre and on to the Eiffel Tower one day (though we did get the metro back from there!).
The hotel itself is fine, the reception area is more modern than the rooms - but for a small hotel the rooms are of a good size for Paris and it was clean. The bathroom was small but the shower was always hot and powerful. There wasn't much storage space for your clothes and bags, so be mindful if you are staying for longer than a couple of nights. We had a bit of a problem with our room – we were originally given a key for a room that was still occupied! Once that was resolved we went out for the night, only to arrive back and our new room key wouldn’t work and took a while to sort. Saying this, the day time receptionists (more so the women that we encountered) were very helpful – they showed us where the tube stops were, gave us maps, booked our Disneyland tickets and told us how to get there.
Whilst I will say that the hotel is perfectly acceptable, especially if you can get it for a good price, I would opt to stay in a chain that you recognise if you’re unsure, as they are often a very similar price with bigger rooms and better facilities. There is nothing particularly Parisian about this hotel so you wouldn’t be missing out on that aspect. I don’t think I’d return to the hotel, but only because there are so many more to try in Paris!
