A weekend away booked as a Eurostar package from London. First impressions were good, hotel located in a nice residential area a short walk from the Metro and the Arc de Triomphe was comfortably reached in a 15 -20 minute walk. At check in we opted to accept the offer of an upgrade to access to the executive floor lounge for breakfast and snacks/drinks in the evening. Unfortunately, by upgrading this meant my wife was not allowed access to the spa facilities without an additional payment (it would have been complimentary on our original rate). When raised with the front desk staff the 'best' they could do was a 15 euro additional charge per session or offer a deal next time we stayed. I would recommend that you review, and clarify completely, the actual facilities offered if you decide to upgrade at the last minute. Rather than wasting further time arguing our point, which we felt was a fair one (considering all my wife wanted was a 20-30 minute session in the sauna), we decided to get on with our break and think very carefully about staying at this hotel again.
The actual room was OK for a large city, not the largest, but serviceable. There was an iron, board and kettle in the room - this doesn't show on the hotel website and may not be available in all rooms. The room faced the courtyard, it was very quiet. The hotel was full on Saturday evening, despite this it remained very peaceful and we were not disturbed by noise from the corridors.
Executive lounge staff were helpful and polite, a separate check in was available. I did get busy at times. The food was OK for a short stay. Breakfast was good for the cold selection, hot food was limited in choice and the same each day. Evening snacks, OK but very similar each evening would get tiresome for a long stay. The complimentary drinks selection was reasonable. Given the time over I think the 300 euro we spent for access over three days would have been more wisely spent in local a local cafe and a bar or two if on a holiday break. On business, the convenience would probably make it worthwhile - wifi is not free though.
I travel relatively frequently on business and like to give a fair opinion of my stays in hotels. Therefore, on the whole, this is a nice hotel. A little more attention to meeting the customers expectations rather than trying to rack up a little more revenue would have left us with a better impression.
