“Don't do it!!!”

We booked this hotel solely based on the pricing and the photos advertised. We we in for the shock of our lives when we saw the hotel. First of all, the parking garage was totally dark, the path and hallway to the elevators were completely dark, and room had an awful odor and there were semen stains on the covers! We were in and out in a span of 10 minutes. Pay the extra 50 euros and stay at a nicer hotel closer to the city center, trust us, you won't regret paying the extra money. HORRIBLE HOTEL!!!

“It`s not the George V”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2008

We were looking for a budget hotel to act as a base for a long weekend at the Toussaint holiday.

At 48 euros a night with free parking this fitted the bill nicely.
As is often the case the hotel was difficult to locate initially but once found this was no problem. The building next to the hotel shown behind the graffiti in the photos has now been renovated to a high standard and there are no corrugated sheets there now to be written on. A 5-10 minute drive gets you straight into Porte d`Italie.

The reception was friendly and helpful (we spoke French) with directions to the station, car parking (there is a spacious underground car park), local eateries, etc.

The room was clean and tidy (albeit smelling of cigarette smoke; we had specified non smoking). Towels and bedding were replaced each day. The bathroom was clean and tidy. Flat screen TV, bags of hot water, comfy beds. Breakfast was good and fresh. Again we found the staff helpful and kind and the lounge had comfy chairs, loads of magazines and a bar which was useful whilst waiting to meet people.

I know a lot of these reviews come down on the negative side but we found, for the money, that we were comfy, well looked after and close enough to Paris to make it a viable alternative to the expense of something nearer the centre.

OK it`s not the George V but hopefully you`ll only be sleeping there and gulping down some brekkie; there`s too much to do in Paris itself to worry about the petty stuff here.

“fans and earplugs needed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2008

We booked 2 rooms, whilst they were serviced quite well they showed wear badly with stained carpets, mould in the bathrooms, broken fittings etc
As there was no aircon and it was +20c the rooms were unbearably hot and as the hotel is alongside a multiple motorway the double window units could not be opened because of the noise (would be OK if the windows stayed shut, if it was cool weather)
Complaints like the lack of operating knob for the shower mixer and no plug for the bath were ignored dispite promises that it would be fixed before our return that night. On returning the surly clerk came to the room to investigate, managed to turn the mixer to shower and stomped off with 'it works, change room tomorrow' That didn't happen either.
The majority of guests were noisy students, shouting down the hallways and door banging apart from 3am til 5.30am so sleep especially with the sauna type rooms was not easy.
Breakfast was OK if you could get chinaware that was not cracked or if the cereal bowels were present- it took 10 mins for a bowel once requested and over 5 mins for a cup, the quallity of food and coffee was good but surly staff were again the order of the day.
Free parking on site and 10-15 mins walk from the train station, with fast trains into the centre are about all this hotel? has going for it.
Not reccomended if you want service, eficiency, ventilation, sleep, peace and quiet and acceptable china

  • Liked — free parking, leaving
  • Disliked — surly staff, noise, heat, no maintainance, it should be re classified as a student hostel

“Never to return.”

I'll start with the bad points: After a reasonably comfortable 30 minute train ride to arcueil it started to go downhill. We were faced with a walk that took atleast 45 minutes with a heavy case up and down hills through a largely ghetto area to reach the hotel situated next to a very large and busy motorway. We would not have been able to find it without maps we printed oursleves from google maps of the streets surrounding the hotel. We arrived to find the only lift was out of order and a climb (with luggage) to our room on the 4th floor awaited us. On opening the door to the 4th floor we found darkness (we later realised that the hotel used trip switches which turn the lights off after a certain amount of time after you press the switch. WE WERE NOT TOLD THIS!) We had to use our mobile phone lights to find our room. The room was a reasonable size, however, and fairly clean. Towels and bedding we're basic. I must mention that during our time at the hotel we didn't feel particularly safe due to mysterious noisees outside our door on the fist night.
All that aside we had a very enjoyable holiday. Paris was amazing and it was reasonably easy to get into paris from the hotel by bus to the station then by train to the city centre (however we weren't allowed on the last bus back to the hotel on the 2nd night and had to walk back through quite a rough area, quite late at night). The only thing that puta dampenner on the trip was returning to this awful hotel after a such a nice day out in Paris. Stars arcueil - NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED!!

“They booked my room to someone else!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2006

This hotel was the worst hotel I have ever been to. Let me start from the beginning..I booked the hotel with expedia and my booking was confirmed. I emailed the hotel many times to confirm that my booking was received and to ask for walking directions from the nearest train station..never got a response. I arrived at the hotel to check in and the check in clerk speaks no english. I manage to determine that she keeps telling me there is a problem with the booking. She gives me keys and a room number to a neighboring hotel. We make our way to this strange place and find the room..the room has ONE bed small enough for a child!! and it was 2 of us!! I go back to the Stars hotel and the clerk says in french that this was for only one night and sorry about the inconvenience (translated by my trusty pocket gem dictionary). Next day, I return in the morning and they say that I can move over to my room but only after 12 noon. I explained that I have limited days here and that I was going into downtown Paris to explore. They said no problem, move over when I return tonight. On returning, a snobbish man who looked like the manager said that I have to stay in the other building tonight (he spoke some english). I was outraged and asked why. He said because I left my bags there, he could not clean the room or rent it out and he lost money!! NO ONE TOLD US TO BRING OUR BAGS OVER!!! He eventually gave in when I told him there was only a single child's bed there for both me and my friend. He said we needed to go and move over immediatly. I rush over to the other building and return to find someone new there who again speaks no english and knows nothing about what happened a few minutes ago! After at least 15 minutes of trying to explain to him, he makes a phone call and gives me the keys to a room. I get to the room, it was filthy, the carpets are disgusting and the bathroom had mould. The heating also did not work.
The hotel is in a terrible area which can only be described as ghetto. It will definately ruin your trip to Paris.
