This was a great surprise in Paris. The entrance is not very appealing and the website neither. But as it had a good price for New Year’s Eve I decide to book it. The check in was very stylish, on chairs and desks and a very attentive and fast service. The chance someone help you with your bags as your car stops in front of the hotel, I believe, is very low. I couldn’t even open and close the door carrying my bags.
The first thing was the view from my window. As I opened I met the Obelisque at Place Vendome. Only a suite guest at Ritz could have that wonderful view. There are rooms with street view instead, but that is a beautiful street.
The bed was hard and there was only one pillow per person (hard and with a pillowcase smaller than the pillow) and the linens were standard size. Even in a double room they left only one slipper, one robe and one soap. And don’t replace. The room decor was not the most charming but overall there was some style, including a high ceiling and a beautiful chandelier besides it was spacious (including cabinet space), specially comparing to other Parisian hotels. The bathroom was equally large and the shower was very enjoyable. One bad thing was the curtain, very narrow did not block the light in the corners.
The breakfast room is very crowded and tumultuous at certain times but the staff is attentive and friendly. There was not a huge selection of choices for eating, but the breads, cheeses and eggs were delicious.
The only problem is the WIFI - only works in the lobby.
