I called the hotel up almost 3 months before my trip to book 2 rooms, but I was told by a very dismissive person that they did not take reservations so far ahead and that I should call back one month before I wanted to book. As I prefer to book my holidays well in advance, I wasnt very happy with that, so I asked if I could send them an email to reserve. The answer was yes - and don't forget you card details to secure your room. Well, I did send the email, but did NOT include my card details (luckily).

When I haven't heard from them for a few weeks and my trip was approaching, I called to see if everything was ok, but was told that I didn't have a room reserved and the hotel was fully booked.

I wrote another email to vent my anger, saying how disappointed I was that they did not communicate with me at all and I didnt have a room. No answer to this email either.

Obviously I booked the rooms in another hotel (quite a good one, by the way - Gran Hotel Nouvel Opera, should anyone need it), but listen to this: 2 days before I was due to travel, I received an email from Alain and Sophie from Hotel de Nevers, offering me ONE room (I needed two) in their new hotel at the price of 90EUR (the roms I wanted to book originally were 60EUR). I thought they were really taking the mickey.

Needless to say, we didn't sleep in the hotel and never will.

I stayed in this hotel a year ago and found it to be a decent option for the budget traveler. I paid my bill in full when departing the hotel.

One year later, my credit card was billed again for this same hotel (I had not returned, obviously). I emailed the hotel for a refund but they never responded, so I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge.

The most suspicious thing is that I've changed my credit card since, so I have a new expiration date.

BE AWARE OF THIS HOTEL!!!!!

This trip was for my daughter's high school graduation. We were on a tight budget and Paris was only one of our many stops in Europe. We however, were first time visitors to this lovely city- and were clueless as what to expect with the hotels. Upon arrival we met the two resident cats! (Which made us feel right at home since we own some of these furry friends.) The hotel staff were all very pleasant and as helpful as could be. They did speak some English, and we spoke zero French-but that never seemed to be a problem. They were generous with information regarding sightseeing, eateries and general "getting around". The owner even insisted we borrow his umbrellas for the day so the weather would not hinder our sightseeing. The room was very basic- no frills...with only one outlet after playing find me if you can. This can cause a problem when trying to charge batteries, cell phones, hair dryer etc. However- it WAS clean. The single pane window opened up to the outside- which made the noise factor a slight problem at night since "Paris never sleeps!"- however after a full day of sightseeing and exploring-once we were horizontal - not so much a problem! We did get lucky enough to have a 'full bathroom' in our room, our friend was not so lucky. He had to shower in his sink and go down the hall to use the toilet. The hotel is a short walk to the Republik Metro station which was very convenient. We never ate a meal at the hotel - we chose to stop at the cafes and bakeries instead. (how could you not !!) The staff even suggested a couple of cafes which (surprisingly) were reasonably priced...and turned out to be wonderful.
So, If you're looking for frills or a chain type of hotel - then this one is not for you...if you don't mind a "mom and pop" owned basic budget hotel- you will appreciate the charm of this place.

I never got to stay at this hotel because I was so put off with their rudeness during correspondance. When I pointed out there poor customer service skills when corresponding with customers I received a patronising and antagonistic response.
