A friend and I originally had a booking at another Hipotel location, but due to a miscommunication our booking was lost and a room was found for us at the Voltaire location. Upon entry, you are presented with a nice looking corridor, complete with wall mirrors, as you make your way to the front desk. Unfortunately, that is where the redeeming features of this hotel stop. Upon walking a bit further, you are presented with a dirty, musty waiting room, consisting of 3 stained chairs and a dirty coffee table. The front desk is not much more appealing, with dirty equipment everywhere. The walk up to the room required walking up 4 flights of disgusting carpet, which looked as though it had not been cleaned in years. When we reached our floor, we were presented with a fire door, and upon opening it, we entered a white-walled cement fire corridor in which there were a few large metal doors. We swiped our card and tried to enter our room, but the door was stuck and we had to body-check the door before it would open. Inside, we were presented with a very plain, dirty, run-down room with minimal furniture. A small wooden desk, two small wooden plank night tables, heavily worn mattresses, and unmatched sheets were all that was in the room. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Someone had sprayed blue cleaner on the toilet seat and not cleaned it off. Everything was peeling and dirty. We actually refused to use the washroom, and we didn't shower that night. The entire building and room looked as though no renovations or upkeep of any kind had been done in 30 years. Upon seeing all of this, we went back downstairs and immediately cancelled our second night. We asked if there was another room available, but were told we were in the best room available. We stayed the night, but needed to find new accommodations for the second night and since there was no wifi in the room, we had to go downstairs and sit in the stained chairs while we searched for another hotel at last-minute notice. The hotel is also located in a terrible part of Paris. It was filthy and reminded me of west hastings street in Vancouver. Not sure there is much else to say. I recommend staying away from this hotel at all costs. The only positive note was that we did not get bed bugs.
