The rooms were very small, seemed clean and warm enough for the Parisian weather. The breakfast was simple yet full with coffee, orange juice, croissant and bread with marmelade. The man in the reception was very helpful, smile and very kind. We stayed for 3 nights and the location was perfect, near the metro starion and moulin rouge. Our room was in the second floor with very nice view, although it was noisy, you could hear the next room or down the street, if you're going on a budget and you are all day running you won't have any problem sleeping.

I'm not hard to please. And I don't like to trash places, so I will try and be as objective as possible.

I've stayed at the HPDC three times. Twice ten years ago, of which I have fond memories of the owner Ty and a clean, affordable and welcome hotel.

I returned this past month to find the hotel has changed quite a bit.

The pros about this place are the location and price. Plain and simple. It's accessible to the metro and in a wonderful area with lots of restaurant options.

But the hotel needs a serious upgrade.

As mentioned by others, rooms at the front are noisy. And not 'romantic Paris sounds' but loud sirens and scooters going by. Not the biggest deal to me, but be warned.

The hotel could be so charming, and once was, but it needs some renos immediately. The curtains in my room didn't close and were falling off their hooks. They were filthy. Carpets too. The double bed was OK but small.

The bathroom needed a serious scrub and the water pressure was non-existent. Literally no water one morning. A drip in the shower at best on others.

The breakfast, for six euros, is something to pass on. Bagette, croissant, tea/coffee and OJ. Grab a crepe for 4 euro across the street.

The place is really loud and you can hear everyone coming and going, slamming doors and smell the smoke from their rooms (even though I was told it is non smoking).

If these things don't bother you, go for it. Staff was friendly enough, but pretty much leaves you alone. Room is safe enough, but didn't really make me feel at home after long days exploring the city.

I will not return until they sink some much needed cash into fixing this place up.

We have booked the room through the website (never trust a picture...). The room we got was the most awful and disgusting bedroom we have ever seen. Noisy (windows from the street) and dirty not because not cleaned, but was so old that even the best cleaner in the world could not do any magic over there. We asked for swap, that happened to us for the first time.
Bathroom was small and not really clean....
The owner uses cheap labour (Asian women), who are very friendly, but if you do not speak French you can hardly communicate with them. In overall they are nicer than the man at the reception. Well, we would not reccomend. It could be such a nice place with just a little bit effort
Good location that is the only plus, but not if you want to sleep comfortably.

The only saving grace for Place de Clichy Hotel is it's location in the heart of Paris, where the night life is buzzing and Moulin Rouge stands tall. Located fifty meters from the Place de Clichy Metro stop, the Clichy is sandwiched between some of Paris' most enthralling tourist sights, including Montmartre, the Opera Garnier House, the Champs Elysees, and Moulin Rouge. But the hotel has a non-existent room service, lack of service staff hinders operation and the breakfast offered is very sub-standard. Though a good stay for back-packers. Avoid getting rooms on the roadside( overlooking the Pathe Cinema), it's too noisy and spoils your sleep at night.
