I and two other couples suffered 5 nights at "Les Jardins de Paris Saint-Germain" in early Sept. 2003. On arrival, we were told by a unwashed-clothes, dirty-fingernails flunky that "there was a mistake" (they tried to give a complicated, confusing explanation - we were too tired to listen) and one of our three rooms was unavailable. They called a taxi and move one couple to another of their properties and footed the bill for the taxi cost. The other place was at best "OK" if you overlook the broken shower head and overly-aged furniture. We explained our situation and dis-satisfaction with the clerk the next morning asking for and expecting some compensation. She copped an attitude that we should be thankful that we had a place to sleep. Further explaination from us only resulted in her claiming that they are totally separate from other "Les Jardins de Paris" properties and we must talk to the Saint Germain people. We did. The "manager" started blaming everyone else and said if their suite was free that night, we could have it. She didn't know if it would be free because she did not know if the (alledged) occupants were going to leave (that is what is called a manager)?!? When my wife asked for a second key room, another flunky snickered and sighed and then removed the master key from his clip and handed it over. We confirmed this was the master key by opening the doors of the other rooms in our party! Who are these people. We were tempted to open up the suite too, but didn't stoop to revenge.In the end they tried to over-charge us (they did not discount they reservations agency's deposit from the total). When we showed them the discrepency, they said the credit card machine could not reverse the charges. We said we would take cash. "We don't have any cash" was the response from the manager eventhough a member of our party paid in cash 5 minutes earlier.Sadly, during our stay we heard of two other couples who were tricked by the same "bait and switch" program. Based on our experience, there are several people involved in tricking the customers that book and stay at this hotel. It is sad and sick how they blame their colleagues and lie to customers. This kind of business is as dirty as their rooms. The 140 Euro/night is criminal.If you find this hotel group: *************, I plead you to look else where. A hotel experience like ours can take away from your entire Paris experience and those of your friends. Get the hotel booking right the first time - cause you won't have a second chance once you are actually there.
