“Nasty experience! Room safe got broken into”

Didn't have time to write this review until now...

Stayed in Appia from 26 to 29 Oct 2011. There were 4 of us and we booked 2 rooms.

On the second day, we were shocked to find out that money was missing from both rooms' safes. One of the safes were left unlocked (and we clearly remember checking to make sure that the safe was locked before leaving the room) and the other safe had the pin number changed.

When we told the manager at the front desk, his expression was nonchalant and just said that it was not possible for that to happen. We were really upset and it was just the second day in Paris for us and we were left with a bad memory.

I will never recommend this hotel. And if you need to stay in this hotel, do not use the room safe.

“EXCELLENT 3 STAR HOTEL”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Excellent 3 star hotel. Location in La Fayette area, not the best area in Paris, not dangerous just not upmarket and fancy. Plenty of restaurants around the hotel to eat which are excellent and cheap. McDonalds a block down. I ate most nights near my hotel as found the prices in the major touristy area expensive. Two minutes walk from the Eurostar Terminal to the hotel and one block from where you can jump on the hop on/hop off bus. I stayed here on my own and felt safe. My room wasn't ready upon check in so they upgraded me into another room straight away. The rooms are very large and decorated beautifully. The bed was super comfortable which I was rapt about as it is so nice to come back from a day touring and sleep well. The hotel is very quiet. The only downfall is they advertise they have a bar and restaurant. When I was there the restaurant was only open for breakfast and the bar was bare with about 3 bottles of spirits anywhere to be seen, not very well stocked. Also, would love it if they had ice machines on each floor saving your going to reception, or even better perhaps a small fridge in your room. Overall, I loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Paris. Recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the side street are extremely quiet.

“Book elsewhere!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We booked this hotel as a result of naming our own price on Priceline. It was $122 a night. This hotel was listed on all sights as a 3 stars. No way!!! The rooms are very small, even for Paris standards. We were in room 605. It is next to the elevator and very noisy!! Between the elevator and the street noise, it was necessary to sleep with ear plugs!! The street noise is unbelievable. The neighborhood is horrible!!! With large groups of men standing in the streets day and night!! When you leave your room, you enter into a dark hallway. The lights only come on with motion! Breakfast is 14 Euros a person which is outrageous!
To be fair-the bedding was nice and the bathroom was larger than expected.
very close to Gare du Nord metro/train.

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

“Neighborhood is Questionable!”

We were two female travelers.. Arrived on Sunday afternoon to a neighborhood with a lot of men gathered in groups of 4-10 in the neighborhood. It was not a safe feeling. During the week there were a lot more people around but i would not recommend this area for single females.. Stay in the Latin Quarter!

“What a pity!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

The hotel is in a great location between the two main train stations but why oh why does it not take the time to remove the horrible stained carpets in the room!? The linens were clean and the windows opened. I love the sounds of the city so I didn't mind the noise. There is a great bakery on the block.

Good Evening,

I have noted your comments. Some time ago that, we received a group that has some seriously stained carpets just for fun.
It was impossible to change them during the high season and despite our efforts, some tasks remained.
From the low period (January and February), we will make a major campaign to rehabilitate our hotel:
- Change of bedding,
- Change ALL the carpets,
- New Paintings: rooms, breakfast room, front hotel.
- Creation of a modern buffet for breakfast.

We are sincerely sorry that the look of your room you have spoiled your enjoyment. Please contact me personally by mail (with dates of your stay and your name).
We want you back again to show you how the work will change your perception of the quality of our hotel.
In the meantime,
Bbest regards.

Serge Scavennec
