Spent a couple of nights here recently and...I'm still searching for my ideal Paris hotel!
Absolutely standard for this area of this city at this level of stars (3 I think). i.e. small rooms at above-standard prices.
Thumbs up:
- pleasant greeting in good English by manager at reception (training new night receptionist?)
- breakfast had hot food option and possibility to order fresh espresso for free, also fresh baguettes. Croissant and pain au chocolat were probably bought pre-packaged or part-baked i.e. not fresh from the patisserie...
- hotel is on a relatively quiet street so no street noise at night (and no metro rumbling on the top floor)
Thumbs down:
- the room was just about as small as you can physically fit into
- I was on top (5th) floor under the reaves and the lift only goes up to the mezanine between 3rd and 4th floor, requiring the guests to walk up 1 1/2 flights of winding stairs (and I don;t think the staff will help - was informed at reception that nobody was available to help me, not that I needed it). I was ok (just a small suitcase), but totally incovenient for anybody with big suitcases and or small children (and totally out of the question for people with physical disabilities).
- room door didn't close shut by itself, by the time I had noticed, I had spent half the evening with my front door ajar....
- walls are paper thin (what do you expect when they've converted a big flat into 6 (I think) rooms! Was unsure whether to be delighted or annoyed when woken up at 4:30 in the morning by the loud moaning of a lady engaging in sexual activity in a nearby room.....
Overall: what you can expect for Paris city centre. Shame there aren't better options, but I'm sure there are worse!
