I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location - on a (relatively) quiet side street about two blocks away from the Gare Lazare train station - is excellent. The rooms are very small but nice. I particularly loved the down comforters and pillows - very nice!
However, the staff at the hotel is among the worst I've encountered in years of traveling and working at inns. I booked the hotel through Priceline but unfortunately encountered a work situation in Tunisia that prevented me making the original dates of my reservation. Fully understanding the terms of the Priceline booking, I called the hotel to see if there was anything that could be done. The woman on the phone was kind enough to change the reservation for me. When I arrived on the dates of the new reservation, I spoke with the manager and discovered that the reservation I had confirmed was not actually made.
The manager (who should not be working in the hospitality industry) was rude, condescending and completely inflexible. I was given several different stories as to why the reservation I confirmed over the phone with one of his employees could not be honored, leading me to believe there were two options: the hotel's incompetence or outright lies. I went ahead and booked a new reservation for that night because there were very options for hotels at that point (2 in the afternoon during a busy conference week). I ended up paying double the price, received no apology or acknowledgement of wrong-doing and then was made to carry my luggage up five flights of winding stairs because the elevator was broken!
Worst of all, the room did not have a functioning lock - not pleasant for a single female traveller. I ended up barricading the door with my luggage just in case. The next morning, I checked out and was unable to get a straight answer from a new round of hotel staff on whether I would be a charged a no-show fee for my original reservation!
Based on this incompetence, I would recommed that all travellers stay away from this hotel - I would not trust my credit card number with people who barely understand the basics of running a hotel!

Dear Madam
Thank you for taking time with your comments on our property.
We are very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay last week; please accept our apologies for this negative experience.
Moreover, I have some explanations about several elements:
- Door locking: all of our rooms are totally secured. There are 2 securities: one with automatic locking when shutting the door, and one with chain if you don't feel secure. But with the automatic locking, no one can access your room.
- Elevator: It's true, our elevator was out of service several hours last week. This problem was solved very quickly. Anyway, when it happens, we always ask to your guests if they require assistance with luggage carrying. That's why we are surprised you had to carry your luggage by yourself. Please accept our apologies, this is an error from us.
- Rate/booking: with deeper investigation on your booking, we noticed that you were charged for both nights (october 15th & 16th), whereas you should have been charged for the 1st night only. That's why we made an immediate reimbursement today for the 2nd night, on the credit card you used for the 2nd stay (night of the 18th). You will see this reimbursement on your bank account in a few days. We are very sorry for this misunderstanding, & hope you will accept our compensation.
Dear Madam, we hope we will see you again at Best Western Elysees Paris Monceau, under better circumstances. Our guests comments are very important to us as they help us to improve ourselves everyday.
Please feel free to contact me directly (b.pluchart@hotelelyseesmonceau.com) if you need further explanations on the above details.
Kind regards
