“Rather good”

For a good, clean, and inexpensive hotel we would reccomend the Hotel Flora.
We went to Paris for our honeymoon 50 years ago, and returned on our anniversary. We were very happy witht the choice of hotel, and will make it our base for our next trip. The price is right, the staff friendly and the breakfast excellent.

The only problem we met was that the lift broke down on Saturday night and was still out of action on Monday morning.

Don't worry about being in the 10th androssiment, we getting on a bit and not as spry as we were, but we had no problems.

“Clean and friendly”

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a 3 night, 4 day stay in Paris, where we stayed at the Hotel Flora.

It is a clean, friendly Hotel, and reasonably located for the Metro (Gare D'Le Est being less than a 5 minute walk away). The staff were indeed very friendly during our stay (even if they never did replace our two single beds, with the double-bed we had booked, as they very kindly promised to do), and the breakfast, typical cold-meat and croissant continental-fare, was served in a clean and friendly basement restaurant.

On the down-side, the location is a little grotty, the Hotel being located in a rather run-down, but lively, neighbourhood (typical of most urban areas in the direct vicinity of major train stations in my experience). There is also building-work currently going-on right outside the Hotel door (come out of the Hotel and step around pools of sand and cement and broken pavements) and certainly there are no interesting views from any of the small, dark rooms, other than the grey walls of nearby buildings.

Also, the Hotel itself, while clean, hasn't been refurbished since Austin Powers decorated it in 1965 (despite suggestions that I have read to the contrary), it's been left so long, it's now border-line kitsch.

Anyway, it's good as a B&B and a friendly base to use as a platform for exploring Paris - ie fine for substance over style. If you want to treat yourselves to a special few days in Paris, then this is not the place for you - go for a better area, and a Hotel with more modern/stylish facilities (ie pay more, because this is not a treat).

PS - Orange France WiFi is available in the Hotel, at a cost of 10EUR for 2 hrs at the time of this review.

Hotel very clean. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Couldn't do enough for you! Located in a great spot, close to shops, museums, patisseries, you name it. Metros are very near, along with the main train stations, which makes it very easy to get about. Loved it! Went with two other friends and had a great girly weekend. We will be returning, for sure!

“What a Pleasure, Thank You”

For a three star hotel it was worth every Penny... I should know after touring Europe consistently for the past 22 years. Management and staff could not do enough for me. My first time at the Flora and 10th time in Paris it was my best experience thus far. Rooms were totally renovated but most important spotless. The staff treated me as if I were at a four Star Hotel. What I loved was the convenient connections to Paris itself, bus and Metro were less than a 5 minute walk from the hotels front door. Many of the major attractions are within walking distance, otherwise I found that a 10 - 20 minute ride on the Metro got me to everywhere any tourist always dreamed of going to in Paris (da, da, da). By the way thanks for the great breakfast the coffee was wonderful. See you guys in June. Lisa

Came to the Flora for business in December 2004 enjoyed the professional and friendly response from all the staff members so much that I returned again in June 2004 to spend a wonderful week at this newly renovated hotel. My room was a A++++, well maintained as always. Enjoyed a great breakfast every morning. Without doubt a great find for anyone coming to Paris. You'll see me again, Keep up the good work, M.V.
