My husband and I stayed in the San Regis for 3 nights. Normally when we are in Paris we stay in the 1st quartier, but now, for we didn't take the kids, I thought it would be nice to try another quartier and stay in another hotel.
Normally I never go to the Champs Elysees (too busy with all these tourists ;), I prefer the streets like rue st. Honoré, and the shops around the La Madeleine, but this time I had to visit the newly opened Abercrombie & Fitch, and luckily this store was just around the corner. I went there really early friday-morning and there was no line, so that was great.
We also went to see a movie which was nice because the cinema was so close to the hotel, just a short walk. There are also quite a few good (lunch)restaurants near by.
We liked the hotel, it was good, we loved the classy style, it was a typical french atmosphere, (the staff started to talk in French everytime we bumped into them but finally we always ended up in English), it was a little old-fashioned but in a way we liked that. This way we really felt we were in Paris!
I loved the Hermes toiletries, the furniture, and the place where breakfast was served.
I didn't like that the room was a bit noisy, and our view was a bit sad so I had to close the curtains, and I felt sorry for the waiter who had to wear some really ugly costume, he was very nice and polite but he looked as if he had just jumped out of some very old movie.
But in other ways we liked it (it felt as if we were playing a role in that same old movie ;), and although I think we'd recommend it to friends who are looking for a very classy old-fashioned French-style hotel, I'm not sure if we'll go back.
Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view at the street!
