“Charming Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

My brother and I stayed for the weekend, it had a cute little courtyard, and the rooms were quite spacious, however there were a lot of mirrors in the bathroom which was kinda freaky, the staff were friendly and breakfast was great, croissant, tea or coffee, jams, bread roll and another pastry, great value for money and close to the Galleries Layfette if you wanted to do some shopping and situated in a great area, short walk to Opera and not too far to the centre of Paris, it took us about 20-30 mins with stopping on the way. Great value, would stay again.

“Parisian Charm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

This quaint typical parisian establishment oozed charm with friendly helpful staff. The website tended to embellish the interior and the floor to ceiling glass every where was somewhat overwhelming. The interior was showing signs of wear and tear. The gold wired lift was a touch of decadence! As is all over Europe the rooms were small. The rooms located over looking the courtyard and skyline were quitter and smaller than those at the front. Bathroom was miniscule and malodorous. Location in a side street ensured quitness from the hustling bustling busy thoroughfares nearby. In close proximity to Garnier Opera, major department stores and public transport. Within easy walking distance to all the attractions of this dynamic area. Reasonably priced eatieries nearby as well as a supermarket. Breakfast was adequate.
Well positioned to take in all that Paris has to offer.

Room Tip: For quitness a back room For a larger room overlooking street

“Dirty carpets dirty bed”

Not a clean place.... At all, and this is probably the most important thing for me and my wife. The carpet was so dirty that we had to put the towels on the floor and walk on them.

“Basic but good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I have stayed in this hotel many times. Its easy to walk to from Gare du Nord and well served by buses from the station if the weather is not good.Yes the lift is small - although adequate for one normal sized person and a suitcase - but most times I am on floors 1-3 so walk!

Cadet metro is a few minutes walk away as is Notre Dame de Lorette and you can get almost anywhere on a bus! It is an easy walk up to Sacre Couer and the Opera/Galleries lafayette area.

Opposite is one of the major synagogues of Paris and often on a Sunday there is a wedding. The whole area is a major Jewish one so many of the patisseries don't open until late on Saturday. All of the little supermarkets are open on a Sunday - if only for a few hours.

Very close to both Folies Bergere and le Palace and Grand Rex. L'olympia and theatre Edouard VII a short bus ride away.

The single rooms are actually quite large by Paris standards and very well lit - the mirrors help! Only one on the 4th floor has a bath that I know off and the showers can be a little small is you are a larger person!

Breakfast is adequate - an orange juice, hot drink of choice, croissant, roll and a small venosserie. You can request eggs and I have seen people eating cheese/ham.

Without fail the staff are charming and helpful - and always seem to remember your room number.

Don't book this hotel if you want posh toiletries. But towels are a good standard and changed everyday, linen every two days, minibar in every room to chill your own drinks. In the summer fans are provided and in winter (even in -2C temps) the heating is more than adequate

“Parisian”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

A bit of old Paris in a cheerful part of this elegant city. There are hints of decadence in the friendly reception area and the tiny wire-enclosed lift has room for the guest or luggage, but not both. The rooms have fatigued locks and the curious partly mirror-clad walls make them feel bigger. Positioned in a side street, and with double glazing, a quiet ambience is assured. The serious police presence outside the stern building opposite gives a feeling of safety. The simple coffee/croissant breakfast comes on a tray, and if fine, you can sit out in a back courtyard. Only 20m away is a large choice of economical restaurants and the important main avenue shops. The Metro's small Cadet station is close by, and the Gare du Nord is not far.
