“Nothing spectacular, but clean, safe and generally OK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We stayed here for a night. The hotel is located just far enough away from the centre of Paris to be out of the immediate tourist zone and to give the impression that actual people who live in Paris might be nearby, but not so far away that it's not walking distance.

While the room was simply furnished, the furniture was to a decent standard, the carpet thick and comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean, although the pink and orange bed clover needs a rethink. The area is safe and resaonably quiet and easy to get to - a ten minute walk to Luxembourg RER max.

Only real negative was the bathroom - no major repair issues but the shower consisted of a shower fitting attached to a tap in a bath with no shower curtain - who takes baths on holiday? seriously? But apart from that, although this wasn't a spectacular hotel, we found it a reasonably safe, clean, and central place to stay - and it did at least have more space than the average Paris hotel room.

Room Tip: Get a room above the first floor to avoid street noise

“Clean and safe, great location and good value for money.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you if you always start with bonjour madam or monsieur , say s'il vous plait when asking for help, merci for thank you, and au revoir for goodbye, you will find the vaste majority of French people , including Parisians, very charming and helpful. Manners are all important and those few words are not too many to master and use!
I had a single room. It was quite large, by Paris standards. It had a double bed with two very thin pillows. I asked for 2 extra pillows and they were provided with grace. There was an adequate wardrobe , 2 bedside tables, and a small desk.
The bedroom was clean the bathroom wasn't too small. Yes , the pink towells are very thin and do need to be replaced, but they were clean and I was given several each day.
This room faced onto the very quiet Rue Madam so I was able to sleep with my windows open.It had recently been refurbished, yes, in a DARK restful colour scheme!
The carpet in the hallways is scruffy but this is a 3 star hotel so you can't expect 5 star quality. It was very clean and very safe and comfortable enough for the price.
I would have liked a kettle in my room so as to be able to make a cup of tea. However, they didn't mind me making one downstairs.
The free wifi did not work for the 3 nights I was there, which was a nuisance. However there is a computer downstairs in the library that you can use for free.
There is no air conditioning but there was a fan in the room.
What I love most about this hotel is it's wonderful location - quiet and away from the maddening crowds yet very safe - close to several metro stations. I am a mature female, traveling alone, and I managed to walk everywhere, or else jump on the metro when feeling lazy or in a hurry. And as for Jardin des Luxembourg.....it is one of my favourite places in Paris, at every time of the day . It is worth many visits.

“Very disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

50 metres away from Jardin du Luxemburg, but that is the only advantage. The hotel is old and shabby (NOT shabby-shick shabby). Small rooms everyone is used to in Paris, but that was something else. The thinnest towels imaginable. Pink, at that. And bluest walls. Colour blind designer. Polyester linen. Smallest pillows. No minibar. No shampoo. Tiny bath (they charge extra for it being in the room). Stuff... there was none. the keys were just lying there on the counter. No way to have a taxi on the same day. And though the price stated on the room door was 170 euros per night we were charged 185 (as a "promotion" via hotel site).

“Great location and very helpful staff- we would recommend it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2011

My friends and I stayed here for a weekend recently. We chose it based on the reviews on tripadvisor and also the apparent good location on googlemaps. Neither my friends or I are very familiar with Paris. It was a great area to stay- really close to Jardin du Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Metro stop- where trains run directly to Charles de Gaulle. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We arrived early and they had no problem looking after our luggage before we could check in. The rooms were a little shabby but very clean. Wifi was free. Overall a very positive experience!

“Okay location and expensive for what it offers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

We were a family of 5 staying in two rooms. The triple room was very small and in general the rooms could use renovation. The bathrooms were clean but the tubs need a shower curtain to avoid bathroom flooding - not sure why hotels in France do not have a shower curtain for bath tubs!! Located right next to the Jardin du Luxembourg, however not that close to any other sites but if you walk in the direction of St Germain we found lots of interesting creperies and chocolate shops. Reasonably ok location in a quiet street with nice little restauarnts and cafes within walking distance and also close to a couple of metro lines. Overall though I think it was expensive for what it offered. I would stay elsewhere next time.
