We stayed here for 3 nights 3rd-6th feb, have to agree with the other negative reviews on here, the reception is nice but one flight of stairs up it all goes down hill, smelly, dirty worn carpets, then you enter the rooms, dirty smelly dated drab dreary need i go on,very noisy at night .people say its very cheap but we paid £150 for 3 nights so not so cheap.i would not recommend this hotel to anyone..

Room Tip: dont book this hotel

“It's a terrible hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This hotel is only good if you do not have money and wanted to stay in a nicer area in Paris. This is one of the worst hotels I've ever been. The room is dark, bathrooms are dirty and sheets are not clean. The room needs an upgrade so badly. Stayed half a day and left.

Room Tip: no tips for good rooms, all the same

“Please read my review to save your trip to paris!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Pease please be aware!!!!! My wife and i booked this hotel for a weekend in paris. Being pretty open minded, we took on board all good and bad reviews written as in the past we have stayed at hotels that were very quaint and charming ,when people said they were under delivering and badly run. This was not the case for hotel des batignolles. WOW. Its web site is so decieving its unreal. There isnt a nice bed, with a lovely side table and roses. Ther definately isnt a nice airy staircase, or a nice reception with polite looking receptionist.
In a nutshell. Walking out of reception, which looks like they have spent all the budget for renovation as it was ok, into the hall way is not a great experienve. It was dark, dingy, smelly and very poorly decorated. Stair carpet was worn and dirty.

The rooms are lined down pretty horrible corridors. Once in the room it gets worse. The mattress was wafer thin along with the 2 pillows given. Even just sitting on it was uncomfortable. The light was dingy and yellow. Someone walked up the stairs and it echoed througe the room. there is no sound proofing. There was a small desk like piece of furniture painted pink but scratched all off the top like someone dragging their nails across it. the bathroom was damp, all pipes exposed, limescaled round plug holes.

We decided after 5 minutes in the room to leave. Got a taxi to Hotel Hermitage, 5 mins round the corner wich was lovely.

All in all, this place sucks if you want a romantic and comfortable weekend as we did. it is ideal for travelers looking for a cheap room who wouldnt be bothered about the terribleness,(think i made tat word up).

Dont be fooled by the web site its not like that at all!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: 12 room. Hotel Hermitage. 99 euro per night, graet clean classicaly decorated rooms with en suite an...

“If only there was an option for less than terrible.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

I booked the hotel after reading all the mixed reviews because it was a very good price in a very good location. When the taxi dropped us off, I was already regretting my decision. The Hotel sign itself is dingy with chipped paint.. it even looked abandoned. We got to the reception desk and things seemed better, its as if its the only thing they bother to clean/remodel. Going up the stairs to our room was absolutely disgusting.. the smell was of animal feces mixed with moisture or something.. kind of like when you put your wet mop in the closet and forget about it for a while then you open it and get that awful stench.. yes, like that. There's no elevator so you cant avoid it.. we get to our room, its small but there's a bed and your own bathroom.. closet, table, whatever. We had gotten there late so we just got ready to meet up friends we knew in Paris and left shortly after. After meeting our friends we told them about how horrible the hotel was.. we come back that night, fall asleep and wake up. When I woke up and finally got a good look around me... there was black MOLD allll over the ceiling, bathroom, and shower. It literally made me cringe and we instantly decided to book elsewhere. We went sightseeing that day and did research on different hotels. On our way back to check out for the day, I was already cringing because we actually had to go back there. MOLD? seriously? This place needs to get inspected and shut down, how is this even allowed??

FURTHERMORE, we couldn't even get our refund on the 2other nights we booked after checking out because "cancellation fees equal to 100% of the hotel cost."

Booking this hotel was the worst decision I have ever made in travel planning. Seriously. Stay away. The pictures that another person added to their reviews is more than accurate as to what the walls and bathroom looks like.

Room Tip: Just stay away. The metro would've been a cleaner stay.

“Simple hotel, great location, quite sufficient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Yes,it is a very simple place, but it's cheap and located in a beautiful neighborhood within walking distance to downtown Paris. If you are young, like to discover cities through walking and expect nothing but an clean room and a private bathroom at a reasonable price, this place is fine. Plus: The staff is fantastic! There are great bakeries (better choice for breakfast) and shops all around and a direct subway and bus to Arc de Triomphe where Air France buses take you to and from major airports. Opera, the department stores, Montmartre and Champs Elysees are within 20 minutes of walking - I can wholeheartedly recommend this place! But don't expect anything more!
